Court of Public Opinion: Engagement Ring

Just listening to an item on the wireless about Prince William giving his
fiancée his dead mother's engagement ring.

What think you? SWMBO thinks it's one in the eye to his Dad. I just think
it's deeply creepy.

I think passing heirlooms like that through the family is a perfectly
natural and rather nice thing to do.

It's more usual for a late granny's trinkets to be recycled in this way but
no reason why a late mother's can't, especially as she died yonks ago.

Deeply creepy indeed. The ring was given to Diana by his father, who was
subsequently involved in an acrimonious separation and then divorce from
her. Freud would have had a field day with this kind of stuff.

It's better giving it some use instead of just lying around in some
