Coventry Eagle H16

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by matthew.wright19, Aug 6, 2006.

  1. Hi

Does anyone have any information on this bike ? I've just recovered one
of these motorcycles and it is in average condition.

I'm looking for some of the bikes history, it was first produced in
1931 (?). Also is it worth much to a classic bike collector ???

    Thanks in Advance, Matt

Coventry Eagle was one of those makers who put a year letter in their
    model names - H is 1932. H16 was the Marvel, with a 98cc Villiers
engine and a tubular frame (several of C-E's two-smoke models had
    pressed-steel frames) - bottom of C-E's range.

Coventry-Eagle was a family-run firm - the Mayo family - and remained so
until the 1960s. The factory was bombed in WW2 and they were moved
out to dispersal factories. After the war, pedal cycle production was
resumed and there were suggestions of a return to making motor cycles.
However, that didn't happen - it remained bicycles only.
