Had a very productive afternoon in the garage fettling the 2C/375. Not a lot left to do now, but I noticed a crack in the front mudguard. About 5 cms running by a rivet on the mounting bracket. IIRC the same happened about 20 years ago, but I didn't spot it until the back half of the guard nearly fell off, but I was able to get an original item in the correct red paint lined with gold and black lines to replace it. No chance of that today. Any welding/brazing solution is going to mean an extensive repaint job and I may go down that route eventually. For the moment all can think of is to take it off, drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop it and treat the underside with JB Weld. Will that hold it for a while, or do I need to bite the bullet and take it to my tame, and very good car body place to do properly now? -- +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Aprilia Shiver Yamaha WR250Z/Supermoto "Old Gimmer's Hillclimber" | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +-------------------------------------------------------------------+
It might. It's amazing stuff. I'd be tempted to drill a small hole, and pass a bolt through with a wide washer on both sides of the crack. And slather the whole thing in JB Weld.
JB Weld definitely fixes everything except a broken heart, and TBH I'm not 100% sure that it wouldn't fix that, too.
