Crash bungs

It's probably too late to do it for the Elefantentreffen, but if the
bike makes it back I'll be fitting some crash bungs.

My local Honda dealer doesn't seem interested in earning money putting
    crash bungs on my CBR600RR.

Reasoning that because they need to drill a 28mm diameter hole in the
fairing that it wouldn't be economical for them if they screwed it up.
They were willing to fit them if I coughed up for a new fairing in the
    event of a cock up.

I've had a look at the fitting instructions on the rg-racing site and it
    doesn't look too hard.

Where can I get a 28mm tank cutter/cone cutter for reasonable money, the
ones I've seen cost half the price of the bungs ?

I;m guessing this is about half the cost of the bungs?

Having used both, I'd say the better finish is produced by careful use
of the holesaw. These days, I'd use neither, preferring the
    infinitely adjustable 'expansive bit':

Clearly my web searching mojo is weak, wish I'd spotted this last week I
might have been able to fit it in time for the Elefant.

    <fx whirring of cogs >
£55.76 for R&G crash bungs plus £19.57 for Cone drill bit versus £122.34
for the HPS crash protector. No brainer it's definitely worth the extra
£47 to be able to just unbolt/bolt.

Even better, just found Busters have Oggy Knobbs crash protectors for £50.

    That's them ordered.

Just need to make sure the bike makes it back from the Elefant in one
    piece now ;-)

I think sir will find that the generic term for the item you are
    searching for is a Bonwick.

But you need a chuck big enough to take his head.

I think Gyp was referring to my ability to wear a hole in a fairing by
    crashing.

He probably was. What has that to do with anything?

At a UKRM racing event many moons ago, persons un-named were involved in
a conversation that went along the lines of

"Where's the tool for making holes in fairings?"

    "Bonwick's over there"

And lo, it came to pass, that from that day forward...

Ask Gyp because I wouldn't dream of trying to make sense of what goes
    on in his mind.
