  1. I agree.
    I agree.
I agree. If only to know when to leave well alone and restrict yourself
to calling emergency services and controlling the area.

Shouldn't that be controlling the area *then* calling the emergency
    services?

  3. Depends on how you read each situation. The above was a St John's
    Ambulance first aid course.

On the "Emergency First Response" I did recently I challenged their
correct answer so fully it is now being changed in the next issue of
their guidelines to examiners. So I was told. Yeh right it's American
    based :)

For those who have done it, it was the one with the guy lying on the
deck in front of some sparking electrical equipment with a fuse box on
    one side of him.

There's a bit more to it than that in the description.

Question what do you do and in what order.

Grab a big wooden stick and switch off the power? Or use it to smash the
**** out of the fuse box?

Or maybe use it to prod the chap away from the power.

You missed the ever so important shout for assistance. This assumes
that there are people in the vicinity but I've been told on more than
one course not to go near the casualty until you're sure someone else
    is aware there's a problem.

  7. What they forget to tell you is make sure the timber is dry (especially
treated timber as some treatments contain salts) if you don't then you could
    in theory
    get a nasty shock (literally)

I think he had a precursor of doom, as he slowed down and hung back.

    Didn't help him ultimately tho .. !

    Cheers

    Paul.

Ask if you get paid extra for being a qualified first aider and if the
answer is no then stay at work drinking coffee. If you want to do a
course for your own peace of mind don't tell your employer or they'll
have you as the named first aider like a shot.

At last a sensible voice, **** me yes. You need someone to keep the
area clear of wandering bodies. It can cause havoc with a decent shot
if some **** just wanders in front of the lens.

  13. Make the area safe then attend to the stiff. Not much point in rushing
    in and becoming another casualty.

    Common sense, innit.

  20. Heh, yes to the first, no to the second, thanks to the third.

So, you think I'm far enough away to be safe?
