    +1.

I get the 'way in' but not the ginger reference.
And how 'clothes' means 'anagram' I haven't the foggiest ..

Once the solutions were posted here, I could sort of see how the clues
worked, but I can never get them.

After a fair bit of thought: "Way in, which ginger [cat]'s used" I
    guess.

Toggery is an angram of ''got grey', but I can't see what the
indicator for an angram is in the clue, if there is one.

    Clothes = togs, I don't *think* it's the indicator, so maybe it's
'unfortunately', or it just relies on the reader being rather cleverer
    than me...

"unfortunately" is the indicator that it's an anagram.

"got grey" = toggery. Solving cryptic crossword clues is mostly a case
of learning the language. After all, the answer is staring you in the
face, you just have to know how to read it.

It's just bollocks really though, isn't it.

I mean, I hate the Countdown conundrum as well, so it's not limited to
    the Cryptic x-word ...

Well, the first one relies on misleading parsing; it's not (the) way,
in which ginger is used, it's (the) way in, which ginger has used. I.e.
an entrance (way in) used by a ginger (cat!) -> cat flap.

In the second one, the anagram indicator is "unfortunately"; the
enumeration gives it away a bit, the only way to get seven characters is from
"got grey" which, unfortunately (i.e. scrambled) gives TOGGERY -- clothes.

And of course my original point was the juxtaposition of
Ginger and TOG in the one puzzle.
