Just before christmas, I sent in a complex order to Ron Ayers.

I'm shocked that on all my orders (unlike partsbandit.com) they've
gotten everything right every single time and even let me know
    proactively when things were backordered.

They even added printed labels on my last order as to what was what. I
can tell a brake pad from an air filter of course[1] but it did help
telling the various o-rings and seals apart.

They're even slightly cheaper than partsbandit, but I really don't care
because I'm not going back to pb unless they start paying me to take
    parts from them.

Dammit, they're giving American customer service a good name. This has
to stop. Standards must be maintained!

[1] Well, most of the time. Sometimes. On a good day. When I'm not
    really drunk.

  2. Cool.

Well, to redress the balance, I've been fighting a US on-line booze
    supplier since before Christmas.

Ordered a dozen pint bottles of a very nice English brew[1] to be sent
to our friends in Albuquerque. And it never arrived. Firm concerned
says FedEx did the shipping. FedEx says it tried to deliver three
times, but nobody was in. Our friends say they actually saw a FedEx
truck driving up and down their road, but it never stopped.

I got all kind of shouty last week, pointing out that this charade had
been going on for a month...

Yes, I've had "failure to do their job" three times, but with UPS.

They left a note saying they weren't going to deliver a package if no
one was there to sign for it. They didn't give an option of signing the
note saying I'd accept responsibility if it was stolen and expected me
to take time from work to chase it all the way across town into a bad
    industrial neighborhood.

The first time, I did actually try to chase it down, and it was a comedy
of "which truck is it on?" "we can't contact the driver" "we contacted
the driver and told him to leave it at the depot but he didn't" and
"we'll tell the driver to deliver it anyway (like we insisted we would
NEVER do)" so that was the ONLY time I did THAT.

The next time, I just let UPS "attempt" delivery their three times and
let them return the stuff. The folks I ordered from got all shirty about
me not chasing it down, and I told them I wasn't responsible for their
poor choice of a delivery subcontractor, and to refund my money please.

This was "Harry and David", the "fine" chocolate folks as well as
partsbandit.com, and I now shop with Godiva and Ron Ayers.

"Harry and David" refused to refund my money because the chocolates were
all melted when they got them back, so Mastercard said "don't do that or
we'll yank your ability to process Mastercard/VISA" and they called me
back saying "we're SO SORRY! Here's your refund! What can we do to help
fix things?" and all faux apologetic.

I told her "you can suck my cock, sweetie, that'll help a lot" which got
me a lot of really funny looks from the rest of the office at work. I'm
usually not that rude, but she was so fake and money-driven about her
    apology.

Then there was the time UPS dropped a $10,000 Dell server off a loading
dock, making it into a nice parallelepiped and shattering the shipping
crate. Fortunately we had insurance and I believe the insurance company
sued UPS as they came back and took pics of the server for evidence.

I haven't had any experience with DHL, but I'm sure they suck too.

I can't believe how many companies UPS has managed to get an exclusive deal
    with! They suck, bigtime!
So, what is it with bithlo, for or against? (Raybo rocks!)

Yes, they had such a contract with my PPOE, but we kicked their asses
out and now use DHL who seem quite clueful. One of the reasons was the
    aforementioned expensive server fumble.
Bithlo is a little hick town on the east side of Orlando. Car junkyard
and trailer trash city, basically. Further east is Christmas, named
after Ft. Christmas established (what else) on Dec 25th waybackwhen.

Definately against. Nice place for a tactical nuclear weapon test.
