Dang .. Nasty Day

    Drizzling rain started last night, sometime..

    Then it got a little worse about rush hour..

    Slacked off just a bit, but the entire day has been grey and gloomy with
    occasional spits..

    Finally unwrapped the Green Vulcan and eased out for just a bit, to run a
    few errands around town.. Sheesh.. never seen so many nitwits playing in
    traffic.. Guess they are all suffering from some kind of gloomy day malady,
    or something.. hmmm
    Could be that they suffer from something a little more perpetual than that..
    lol

    By the time I eased the Green One back on the patio, it was too filthy to
    cover back up, so I rinsed that puppy off, just a bit.. Just let the air dry
    it and did a quick once over with a damp towel.. That'll work for now.. the
    day is just too messy for me to get all riled up about a detailed (or lack
    thereof) motorcycle..

    Just think.. I could've used the black pickup to run those errands and saved
    myself a mess to clean up.. <chuckle>

    I for one am glad you took the Greenone out on such a messy day..proves
    your not a candyass.

    I brought mine to work today..I am going to McKinney after work and a
    friend and I are going to adjust my valves and replace the O-Rings on
    the valve covers. That should take care of the small oil leak that has
    developed on the front cylinder. I will do a oil change and my ole
    scooter should be in tip top shape once again.

    You trailer'd it.!?!
    Those Mena rides are hard on you guys bikes, something about them
    oil&gas leaks, after gettin' home.
    Heh-heh- I know you ment, 'rode' that goodlooking Yama0650. (or did
    ja'?) after reading it agin', grin. I believe you did haul er'. <g> bjay

    We ride those roads in Arkansas hard and fast. I guess thats what tears our
    motorscooters up. They arent used to running that hard. Mine had a small oil
    leak because I didnt replace the O-Rings face seals when I did the last
    valve adjustment. I didnt replace them because the three Yamaha dealerships
    near me didnt have them in stock. I ordered them in last week so this time I
    could replace them.

    I hauled it to work. When you do a valve adjustment, the bike has to be
    stone cold. I trailered it also incase something went wrong I wouldnt be
    stuck 70 miles from home with no ride plus I aint skeered to trailer. LOL

    Some do and some don't.. Any run that entails something like 1000 - 1500
    miles on a weekend, should be followed up with some routine maintenance.
    Which is mostly what you are hearing about.. After ten years of reliable
    service, a minor gas leak is not much consequence..

    Redshad is conscientous about valve adjustments.. That's a good thing..
    His motorcycle is certainly not "maintenance deprived" by any means..

    You managed to ride with us for a short 30 or 40 miles.. That's the way
    we ride for the entire weekend.. Those highways in the part of Arkansas
    where we have ridden several times, lately.. are definitely not for rookies
    or posers.. After that kind of riding for a weekend.. the motorcycle
    definitely
    needs some tender loving maintenance care.. Either take care of the bike
    or it won't be with you for long..

    Yeah, and I enjoyed the little bit that I did get to ride with you guys.
    (mighty fun)
    ‘‘That's the way we ride? You say above?’’
    What way was that? I thought it was fun. I remember about 3 others were
    about a mile behind. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I
    usually try to stay with the pack.
    ~~~Bill, did I read, that you did not ride the Saturday Ride, the
    250-300mile tour around Mena and Nebo Mtn,? (Nah, I didnt read that,
    sorry).
    I will say, that I have ridden the Ozarks numerous times, but hardly
    ever rode in a Hurry, didnt then, wont now (to an extent). ~~So, had we
    been along, I would have been way back out of site, more than likely. I
    know at times, I would kick'er up, on some of the curves, but normally,
    Honey and I, like looking.
    Sure.. that was a good little ride.. especially on old hwy. 67.. What I
    meant
    was.. we didn't fool around.. Breezed by a couple of the local cops that
    could have written a few tickets..
    ~~~Bill, did I read, that you did not ride the Saturday Ride, the

    I don't know if you read it, or not.. I didn't make the whole ride.. We had
    a young fellow that was having some real hard times.. keepin' up and
    hooking up with some of those twisty ones.. He decided that he was out
    of his element and over his head, so he'd best quit the ride and go back..
    We were about 100 miles east of Mena and I was worried about him
    getting back safely, so I kinda escorted him back .. The two of us made
    the return trip OK, but I missed about 200 miles of the run..

    I don't think so.. He isn't one of the guys that we ride with, though..
    There were probably more than fifty riders that made that run.. All
    of them didn't go to Mena with us.. They gathered there to make that
    day run..

    It was one of the guys from a Ninja 250 club that wanted to go with us. I
    posted the trip we were taking on there web forumn and he wanted to go. He
    has been on several Mena trips but he just cant keep up even though he was
    on a Ninja 900cc motorcycle. The boy has a garage full of motorcycles and
    cant seem to get any of them up to speed. He doesnt feel confortable riding
    like we do so he falls way behind. Hes skeered to take a 20 MPH corner at
    80..dont know whats wrong wif da boy. He also had some problems with his
    shoulder. I think the boy has some health issues that prevents him from
    riding very long. He does good if its a short run at slow speeds. Bill
    Walker felt sorry for him and it was a good excuse for Bill to bail out on
    the ride and head back to the hotel to relax and take it easy. I think he
    learned that from another guy that post on here often. LOL..wont mention no
    names but Bill knows who I am talking about.

    Well, I think that weekend was also the CMA deal. So, you turned around
    and rode back making a sacrifice, escorting a young rookie (wanna be)
    rider, that wasnt even in your group? That was a noble thing to do.
    (cher'kle). So, that sorta cut into your 1500 mile weekend run, eh?

    LMAO twice) 1. The boy could not run the 20 mph curves @ 80mph. 2. That
    the old veteran found an excuse to turn around, and go to the house. (I
    needed agood laff over here in cool NE Texas) Thanx Red-SHAD. over,
