heh. Did they seriously do that?
Can I suggest an immediate knighthood for the bandmaster?
Wonderful. Did you see the interview afterwards with the Islamic
apologist?

"Bookshops can sell what books they want!"

So long as it's not 'The Satanic Verses', one presumes?

I do like it when the loony god-botherers shoot themselves up the arse,
but it's a little unsporting to bag a bird on the ground, what?

What a shame no one followed it up on air.

I did indeed.
Well actually, they *can* sell that, if they want to.

And I thought several many did, and still do. Has that changed?
No, no. But do you really believe that the guy being interviewed thinks
that way? Of course not. And he should have been questioned on the
subject. Hard.
Oh, quite so. Every muslim I know would have been cringing at the
bloke's antics. That was my problem with the lack of follow-up.
Quite so.
That only works if there *is* debate. My problem was that, just as the
guy exposed his nakedness, no one was able, or willing, to say "Oi!
You've got no clothes on!".

Open goal. No-score draw.

Boo.

TBH I'm not convinced any of that chest-beating, flag-waving stuff does
any good ... I mean, I know several many Muslims, and not one of them is
raving, or unreasonable, so (to me, from my experiences) it's more a
case of keeping tabs on the small number of nutters ... I don't yearn
for any great crack down, coz to me that just makes us look like we've
got no tolerance.

Let people say whatever they want. Let them write, and distribute,
whatever they want, from extremist islamic diatribes, to Zionist
claptrap, to nazi holocaust writings. Makes no difference; without an
idiot to act on it, it's just words on a page.

I've held, for a very long time, that freedom of speech means exactly
that; freedom to say WTF you want to. Let em say it. Anyone with half
an ounce of sense isn't going to believe a word of the extreme stuff,
and those who do would have believed something less extreme anyway, so
why stifle debate?
Are you including Des in that?
