My Daytona Voyager GTXs have split after just six weeks. I returned them
to the shop on sunday and the bloke said he'd contact the supplier /
manufacturer to see if they'd be repaired or replaced. Anyone any idea if
I'm entitled to insist on a new pair as they're only 6 weeks old?

I would have thought so, but you'd need to check the Sale of Goods Act
to be sure. I can't remember off hand if you can do that.

I'm surprised you've had a problem, that's the first warranty claim
I've ever heard of with Daytonas in 3 years of dealing with them.

That's what the bloke in the shop said too which was why he'd have to
check what to do. It was a small seam near the gear change pad that
burst but at least the goretex lining kept them waterproof.

  4. IANAL, but given the circumstances you have described, my understanding
is that the provisions of Sale and Supply of Goods Act entitle you to
your money back. You could also accept a replacement pair. Lozzo's
respect for the product seems to be echoed by others in this parish, so
it seems like you have been unfortunate to acquire a less-than-perfect
    example.

I like Daytonas. I've done something like 60K wet weather miles in my
RoadStar GTXs and they polish up like new. They've never leaked a drop
and even in the worst winter weather they keep my toes warm. I was
selling them for about 3 years at GLF's shop and at shows, never had a
    pair come back under warranty.

Your missus was too pikey to buy the Gore-Tex version, what does she
    expect?

Sometime around Thu, 28 Jul 2005 20:49:59 +0100, Lozzo babbled on about:
Thank **** for that, we picked up the SOs new Daytonas(1) yesterday
    afternoon.

It is reassuring to know the other half of the family has pikey
    tendancies as well.

  11. A judge will decide what constitutes "reasonable" based on the

  13. The point being that the SoGA covers such a wide range of stuff that you
could never define such a phrase and not **** somebody over.

Good point. I can't help but think it works in favour of the retailer
    most of the time though.
