    Fucking excellent.

Bearing in mind Bee bought me these boots for xmas 2001 and I've spent
whole weeks wearing them as normal footwear when working and done
thousands upon thousands of miles in them until the soles finally cried
enough and fell apart. They never leaked a drop in all weathers and
were still comfy when I took them to GLFs for Graham to send back to
the factory. My order was for new soles, new gearchange pad on left[1],
new Goretex liners and some minor repairs where the uppers had worn out
through abuse. I got them back today and didn't recognise them, until I
spotted a couple of old battle scars - they honestly look and feel like
newish boots with a touch of 'lived in' about them.

If your Daytonas need attention I can't recommend the factory refurb
service highly enough. Graham has a price list for all the services
    they offer. 01525 717009 or http://www.glfaccessories.com/

[1] They've replaced the right one as well, just to match the left by
    the look of it

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a pair, despite the
expense. The soles are falling off my Alpinestars and the inner lining
is coming away and they've hardly been worn in comparison.

They aren't cheap, but these withstood nine years of abuse before they
finally had to be rebuilt. The nice thing is having the option to
rebuild, which you don't get with most other boots. I had utterly
destroyed my Gericke race boots in four years, to a state far worse
than these were in, and I didn't wear them anywhere near as often. The
Daytonas have worked out to be great value for money over the time I've
had them, even if I had paid full price for them initially - Thanks Bee
    :)

I've got some 2001 Daytona boots that leak a little at the base of the zip
and one sole is beginning to crumble. I looked at new boots in M&P and the
guy there said get the Daytonas rebuilt. I've followed your recommendation
and looked at the site you posted - can't find a price list though. Is it on
the site or is it a phone call?

Your best bet is to give Graham a call at the shop, then he can quote
you properly. The refurb price list isn't on the site probably because
it's one of those things that requires discussion also.

Yeh, will be looking for discounts, maybe buy over Winter. I came
through some fairly heavy rain today over the peaks into Chesterfield
and I was surprised by how good the fairing on the XJ is - the tips of
my boots, my knees, the inside of my arms and my helmet were the only
things that saw rain. By the time I got to the M1 I was dry again. So
perhaps my rush for new boots can wait a bit longer.

How odd, Hein Gericke don't appear to sell the Roadstars according to
    their online store.

Take the time to go and see Graham at the shop. It's worth it.

Bedford is hardly just round the corner. I'll pop to the local HG and
if the Daytonas they have fit me in size 8 I'll buy from whoevers
    cheapest online.

Found out yesterday my ten year old waterproofs bought for the French
runs are still waterproof, so a set of boots and maybe some warmer
    gloves and I'm sorted.

It was suggested on another forum that the Daytona boots sold in HG are
versions exclusive to them so may not be available elsewhere.

I haven't checked this out but I'm sure Lozzo will know.

Hmm yeah, I've found that posting. Interesting. I'm in HG tomorrow so if
I get accosted by a monkey I'll ask. They should be able to persuade me
to part with my cash for some goretex trousers and maybe some gloves as
    well though.

They definitely don't sell the Roadstars, and didn't even know what type
of boot they were. They did try and say that the Roadstars were no
longer made and I should go with what they have but I'm attempting a
repair on my Alpinestars and after the feedback on here I'll be after
    Roadstars anyway.

They don't know what they are on about, the Roadstars are still
available in normal and Goretex forms. If you're thinking of buying
Roadstars, always go for the GTX ones.
