    <Losing patience>

Believe it. Were this not so, every sign you see saying: "See a
suspicious object? Report it to a member of staff" could be
actionable, by your lights. As would every piece of information
supplied to the police. As would every case of some worried soul
    reporting someone acting suspiciously.

<Losing more patience> You inserted "towards pupils" yourself. I did
not use those words, because - unlike you - I am being very careful
and specific in what I write. Unlike you, I am not twisting what
    others say I say.

    He did nothing fraudulent.

Nobody is suggesting accusing you of anything. See my earlier posts.
It is being suggested that some of your postings be submitted to
certain authorities, as cause for concern. Different animal.
If you told them precisely what I have outlined to you, which I
seriously doubt, then this would not be their conclusion.

Once again, you are setting yourself up to appear a victim. You have
blithely dismissed my pointing out that reporting a genuine concern is
not per se actionable. You have added words to my quotes; words I did
not use. And, FWIW, I have genuinely raised an eyebrow myself at some
of your postings about your pupils. No more than that: just a reaction
along the lines of: "Hm. I really would not have said that myself."

I must say I wouldn't do what she's proposing. But it is interesting
to see Des get rattled just because some of his no-archived postings
    could find a wider audience.

I don't believe for one second that you're a danger to children, as I
read your comments within the context of usenet. However you are very
wrong if you don't believe others would interpret them differently.

I strongly suspect that most parents of young children would be
outraged if they discovered one of their teachers had publicly told
someone to send their 16 year old niece round to give him a blowjob
whenever he wanted one. No, it isn't illegal. But it is a staggeringly
stupid thing to say given your position.

If you've got any sense at all, you'll learn a little humility, & try
to make light of your previous comments rather than rabidly defending
them because you 'haven't broken the law'.

This will be my last word on the subject. This has come about because we
have, to quote a lurker's e-mail last night, 'a bitter little cow' who
didn't like her 'feminism' being called into question. Faced with someone
who is pointing out what she in reality knows, and in extremely vigorous
terms to boot, she does the only thing she knows how: she lashes out.

I am wholly convinced (and I believe that you will deny it but you are
convinced too) that if I had not attacked her, we would not be having this
    conversation today.

She is not 'a concerned adult' but a bitter little unit who can't 'fight
    back' any other way.

  10. "What happens in Usenet, stays in Usenet."
Really, my opinion of some people would plummet if such a thing actually
    happened.
Now that's good for a laugh.

It's pretty simple really - if you don't want some people to see them,
    don't post them to usenet.

Quite. What is funny is his assertion: "Truth is a defence, I
believe", blithely ignoring the fact that if his postings were brought
to the attention of his superiors, then what he calls a "bitter little
unit" would say exactly the same thing.

Using the old "a lurker emailed me" line is really a pretty feeble way

He's rattled because he knows that if she goes through with it he'll
be investigated. Probably nothing will come of it but from every bit
of shit thrown a small amount of it sticks.

    heh.

I'm 99% sure that UKRM was responsible for someone getting a written
warning from their employers over some iffy posting behaviour.

Was a while ago, and I forget the details.
