Finally I've got to level 122 on Defender on my Atari 2600. It's the spiky
terrain and those pesky aliens that get me every time.

The graphics are amazing, I wonder whether they'll ever be surpassed...

    No probs.
Mine has just had a faster PC put inside it so I must get round to updating
the page , and I'm trying to find a decent condition "Gauntlet" cabinet for
    the next project.

I also converted a tabletop machine but that was a complete git to get
    everything to fit in there.

  6. It's those fsking mutants, isn't it and that hovvery one at the end if
    you're a bit slow.
The demise of the game happened when it all went 3D.

Project PVR took precedence over Project Arcade-Game last year.

I'm after a fairly standard upright cabinet. What sort of PC is
considered fast enough for MAME stuff these days? I was thinking of
running a fanless Micro-ATX/PC-Chips motherboard/CPU rated at an
equivalent to a P3-800 - would that be fast enough?

    comes first. What's PVR?

why? I expect you're slightly too young to have spent a lot of time in
your early teens hanging around in arcades. I want one for my home
office/entertainment room, to go with the pool table and baby-foot.

Just what I was thinking - not the sort of thing I'd want in my house.

The old PC was a Duron 850 which would be a smidge slower than a P3 800 ,
and that played everything up to mid 90s games with no problems , and some
    more recent stuff.
More processor intensive modern stuff would struggle , but since I've put an
XP 1800+ in there I find myself with a whole bunch of new games that run.
The very latest games won't run at full frame rate no matter what you have
    in there.
