silver is what you get after P's
silver can be a 1 or 3 year

Gold is a 5 year licence which is available to someone
that has had a silver for 5 years and has not been disqualified in that
    period

So you believe that speeding is travelling at a speed in excess of what is
safe and not what is signposted ?

    Ok We have red(ish)
    Our standard colour is blue.
You can buy a five year licence (anyone can) at your next renewal. Cost less
    than three individual years.

  8. You've seen my road. They've since dropped the limit from 80 to 50. I drive
like an idiot every day now!

When I lived on a busy road in town I built a front fence with child proof
lock as soon as the young bloke started toddling.

I have lately begun to think the whole speed limit sign thing is counter
productive. A 100 sign creates a need to drive as close to 100 as possible,
regardless of the traffic or weather conditions. Any one who dares to drive
at only 95 is a doddering idiot who should have his licence revoked, etc.
Anyone who drives faster than ourselves is a reckless idiot. If we all
travel within 5 km of the signed speed no-one can ever pass anyone and we
create packets of vehicles along the highway. Before we had speed limits,
and in WA that was as late as the early 1970s, there was no pressure to
travel at any particular speed. A person driving at 80, 90, or 120 was not a
hindrance to someone who wanted to go faster. And very few people actually
drove much faster than 130-140 anyway. I don't know if that would work with
today's traffic and the much greater capabilities of today's vehicles, but I
think I may be in favour of it. Darwin will take care of the Hirebus/WRX
    crowd.

The problem is when the Hirebus/WRX crowd takes other people with them.

Most country fatals seem to happen on very straight bits of road. And are
one vehicle incidents. I'm not suggesting open season in urban areas.

  15. But you'd also be the first to whinge about taxes doubling because of the extra 10,000 cops we'd need
Speed camera fines alone would pay for this..
    Next arguement.

  17. I think that kids should be able to play in the street they live in and the cars should avoid them. That was the case when I was a kid.
WOW!! I agree with Theo for once!
    Doubt it.

  19. I personally think they should have changed 'one' other thing from the following list. (feel free to add some more)
    Why injure a nice animal.
    that costs money.
    see above
    I like...

But none of these relate to young children who are innocent victims -
**** the stupid bitch who walked out, removing her from gene pool is
the best thing htey could do.

  20. Patently obvious a suitably supervised child would not have been injured

Not always true. I worked with a bloke years ago Bernie at Liquid
Air.. Great bloke. He had a week off over school hols to be with
family and one day went shopping with the family.

Parked the car in side street against curb, wife gets young child out
of back seat of car - kid told to wait right where he is - which he
    usually does...

Kid sees dad getting out of drivers door (dads not usually shopping
with family weekdays is all we could put it down to)- child breaks
free from mum and runs out around to be with dad - straight under
passing car - dead. And Bernie saw it all happen less than 3ft away
    from him.
