Speaking for *myself only*, Gerry challenged another to remember remarks
he'd previously made. I believed his conduct on that occasion to be
incredibly selfish. I followed up with the remark that he was a
disgraceful person. I've held this opinion for some time, before the
remarks were made and I still hold that opinion.

Given some of the shit Gerry's thrown at me personally in the past only
to have a begrudging and ultimately worthless apology dragged out of him
I see no reason to resile.

Apparently though, in the eyes of some, this makes me part of a bullying
mob, a conspiracy to attack in company with others.

Through countless political arguments I've copped much personal abuse
(and by current definitions, mob attacks) but I'm a big boy and can
stand up for myself. As I often say, I've been called much worse by much
nicer people. I enjoy the arguments and hold no grudges against anyone.
My killfile is empty. I'll have a beer and an argument with anyone here
in person.

If others deem that I've somehow "attacked" Gerry as part of a mob with
a bullying mentality then they'd best get themselves a mirror and
examine their own previous behaviour and remarks toward my good self and
others.

I don't condone many of the personal attacks. I liked the days when this
place was referred to as virtual pub. There would be some claret spilled by
now, for sure.

Ahh, I think they timing, the personalities, motives are more the issue,
Doug (the vibe, mabo...).

That's where much of the subtleties have come into play. The personas and
the comments don't match, so it is either the people have nothing to say (it
is usenet after all) want to attack the person, or that is the limit of
their (call it) intellect.

Your actions were not the focus of my post. I do agree that there have been
people that may need to consider how they converse with others. It also
highlights how easy it is to get people from rational to irrational to
personal.

I still think of it that way in that I can argue in a manner that'd
wouldn't be possible IRL with many people. Many I've argued with in
here, I've agreed with at other times on other matters.

Previously I've extended the hand of friendship to Gerry after a blue
only to have it spat on. Gerry, to my mind, is a grub.
