I was getting a bit fed up with the 50cc scoot so I spotted a bigger
one on ebay and put in a silly bid.
All of the bidders are in hiding for the holidays so I won it at what
    looks like a silly price.

Now I need to get it home from the frozen norf.
What could possibly go wrong ..........

    Anyone want a cheap chinese 50 ?

  3. Oh dear. I've been doing that a lot recently.

    Indeed they are.

Yup. I got the T250 and the GT550 recenty for silly money.

    **** ME SIDEWAYS

    Under £500?

Just as well the mileage isn't as described in th auction details :)
Well, I'm going up to Durham in a month. I could ride it most of the way
down. Looks like a UR job to me.

Seriously, that appears to be an amazing bargain.

    No, it's working fine.

I just have a complete dislike for the shocking build 'quality'.

  6. There's a thought -- I could probably turn a profit selling
sweepstake tickets on how long it'd take the local scrotes to have it
away and try to make a field-bike of it!

  7. Heh. Well, you were warned. OTOH, as you said at the time, you can
afford to experiment and if necessary, write off the dosh.

To be honest, I'll reserve judgement until I've put some real miles on
it (still only on 175 miles at 4 years old!) - taking it for the first
    MOT on Tuesday morning.

Also currently painting it NATO matt green..... the bodywork is drying
from the first coat this evening.

For some reason, I've also bought one of these:

    duro-fairing-headlight-blue-yz-yzf-9308-p.jpg

In black..... got it cheap-ish on eBay - it looks a lot better and I
assume works a lot better than the dimly lit candle it currently sports.

I'll mostly use it to get between the house and the lockups - although
it'll be handy if we get snow again this winter.

Its actually not that bad, just turned only 2000 genuine kilometers
on an 06 plate. Parts are cheap and plentiful, long MOT and tax.
Fine for buzzing around and shopping in a 30 limit.
Might make 300 on a good day.

Indeed, If its not a keeper a new MOT and some decent pictures should
see it make a decent profit.
They have a decent reputation for reliability etc and there is a Yamaha
dealer just over a mile away.

  12. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Dr Ivan D. Reid
Or you could run a 60 amp line to it and wait.

What am I saying? You could probably get a superconducting line to it
and rig up some detectors to tell us what a scroton decays into.

Well, I set out this morning at 0830 and picked it up in Pontefract
at 1130. Back home by 3.30.
It looks tidy for its age and sounds good but only a good ride and
a visit to the MOT man will provide a real verdict.
First niggle - It is clearly an import because the user manual is
    in French.

Feeling a bit shattered after a 450 mile round trip on England's
wonderful boring motorways in the Renault Master so it now owes me
70 quid of diesel in addition to the £495 price.

So before you MOT it, check whether the headlight needs taping: you
never know, it might slip through OK.....

Hah! As all bikes produce a field that is attractive to scrotons,
scrotons tend to use bikes as field bikes, does that mean that
indirectly,a bike's field is actually a field's bike field, that tends
to turn a bike into a field bike when in collision with a suitably
    energetic scroton?

Also, one could follow this, aah, logic, further, and hypothesize that
the above paragraph, if true, could indicate that being in a field is
a bike's ground state, so the fact that most bikes aren't in fields is
a de facto population inversion. Sometimes we see a return of multiple
bikes to their ground state, all in one field, at which point there
may be a cascade, or at least cavalcade, of bikes.

If one were to set up an old cloud chamber experiment, I also
hypothesize that one would have to measure the tracks of the scrotons
/before/ interaction as well as after interacting with the attracting
element: the principle being that they'd spiral inwards, combine, then
shoot off radially upon interaction, the exact direction depending on
the direction of the field. AIUI this is somewhat the reverse
behaviour of classical quantum particles. This impies that scrotons
are in fact a kind of temporally-reversed object that initially at
least are outside normal time. However, given the injection of
suitably energetic anti-scrotons into the mix, the wave might collapse
and the scrotons thus end up doing real time.

    God that wine tasted weird.

  17. I have an odd feeling that for some time now, a lot of bike headlights
have been made "Euro-neutral" insofar as they actually throw out the
same beam pattern be they left-hand or righthand drive.

Dip beam just brings the beam in closer and doesn't throw it to one side
    or t'other.

  18. Digital instruments? Switchable mph/kph speedo? If so, no worries.
Assuming it's as good as it looked in the auction, I reckon you still
    stole it.

I assume he included the final .5 of a mile in the mileage :)
