didn't rain but it poured

  1. well, out of the side of my petrol tank!

Filled up the R80 on the way to work yesterday arvo, got home this morning
and had a nap. Wife called me outside about 1030 - she had heard splashing
and smelt petrol - when I came out the tank was 3/4 empty but still spraying
out from the bottom seam area. I tried to catch what I could - about a
couple of litres the rest went in the garden.

Something else to add to the list of things that need doing- I guess this
will go to the top and actually get done.

  5. I dunno, the insurance is more than I would get if I sold it but less than I
need to spend to make it respectable.

Following one of its numerous lie-downs The Jackal developed a pinhole
leak on one of the external creases on the tank, and some seepage
around the "saddles" (for want of a better word) that slip over the
    rubber doohickies on the frame.

I fixed it with a high-wattage soldering iron, some plumber's solder,
and plenty of flux (I too had an aversion to welding it). It was still
petrol-tight 3 years later when I sold the bike.

Clever. I was thinking of the Guinness I just drank.
    A bit of both :)
