i have, actually, talked, to des, in real, life, and, can, like, therefore, confirm, that, he does, talk like that.
it was when h pointed out that you had lost any kind of grasp on reality about 30 seconds after meeting you.
No, I wasn't there. I've only met dog once, and that was on a TOG run to somewhere up there, and Cab and I were late, having got lost near (IIRC) Rouen. (either that, or I was _really_ into some heavy recreational drug use at the time, for I genuinely have _no_ recollection of a bike show with you, dog, H and Cab. I recall meeting you on maybe two occasions when you were staying over at Cab's place in the 95. One of those occasions in particular, I'm not likely to forget. Ever. And I have _vague_ memories of chatting with you at Big J.'s place. But no, please tell me that I don't have a 'black hole' in my memory and that I wasn't at that bike show...) Oh, I remember the meeting, i.e. the one in the hotel at the aforementioned TOG meet. I just don't recall anyone commenting on the way I speak. D.
No idea, but here's a guess: The original big bang engines were two-stroke 500 fours. On these engines, I suspect that you couldn't avoid a lot of overlap of the firing pulses if you did anything that bunched up the firing order enough for the uneven timing to have a useful effect on traction. Bear in mind that a uniformly-timed V-four 2T would fire at 90 degree intervals. A conventional four-stroke four fires every 180 crank degrees, so you can bunch up the firing into a 'long bang' without massively overlapping the firing pulses and still get a reasonable 'pause' in the firing. Just a thought.
I'm sure both you and dog were on the TOG trip to Dunquerque in 2001(?). Certainly that's the only time we've met.
It was good to see you again. Some good pics of the R1 there, it did sound good. I miss that bike :-( Figuring if I chopped in both the KTM & the Gixxer, I might be able to raise the funds.....I'll carry on daydreaming. Nah, darn sarf now, what do they say here, 'yarp' isn't it?! You still in Thornbury ?
