I'm not talking about a full competition-based machine.
I would like a *go*; I wouldn't want to own one.
    too slow.
perhaps - but having owned a CCM R60 (600cc, competition exhaust
system) it was a brilliant compromise between a nice nimble commuter
and a silly weekend toy. I got rid of it mostly because at the time I
was moving from EKS back to permie and needed the money.

Don't do this one unless you're sure it's what you want! The urge to go
out for a blat on a commuter friendly bike is much diminshed and while
you may have lost the urge to do that now, if you get it back....

I still wonder if I did the right thing going for a "sensible" bike 9
months and 8000 miles later :)

  4. None of the above.

Keep it and buy a cheap small SOB. And the saving in running costs on
the commute means it'll pay fior itself in a few months.

163miles (I hope it is miles) out of my first enthusiastic 11 and a bit
    litres for the GS

Slowing to commuting speeds and fettling would have that much nearer
    200.

  6. I'm tempted to do that. What we have here is mostly motorways and dirt
tracks. Hardly ever use the bike. Trouble is, I have to find a brit to
sell it to. Everyone around here thinks I'm insane to have such a big bike.

You *say* it's not a money thing but it probably is. I like to think of
my bike is a financial liability, depreciating asset or whatever. I
balance it against that feeling of well being when I ride it.

It sounds like the negative, as in depreciation running costs etc are
    starting to outweigh the positive.

Of course with winter looming you're about to see three or four months
of straight minus on the balance sheet as the bad weather keeps you off
the bike. Add this to the costs of the house move and I can understand
why your subconcious is doing the sums for you.

If you really want to get rid of the bike consider whether the price
will be much different if you sell it now at the end of the season or
wait for the start of next year. Probably worth holding onto the bike
until at least March, that way you might get a few fun days over winter
and come the first nice sunny day in March you'll be glad you held onto it.

I noticed that when ebay did their free listing in March this year, a
lot of bikes when for silly money.
