    Hi,

Wearing glasses... fancy a flip up helmet.. Use: commuting - all year - in
Northern Ireland (It's cold and wet - a lot!)

CABERG Justissimo appears reasonably priced but a lot of reports indicated
    it leaks...

Any one out there riding with a flip up lid under £200 that THEY LIKE and
does the business in the wet? Noise aint a problem... I'm too old to worry
    about that...

    Good Luck

I've got a Caberg. I just put it under the tap and filled it with water ...
and you're right ... it leaked. I have never, however, had any leaking
problems in the rain. Suppose it is dependant how heavy the rain is.

Id not seen that it leaks, it just didnt fit my noggin as the chin bar kept
touching my chin and i was a little worried should i come off the scoot
    again.
Funny though, the Just One Plus fitted lovely, however, i was after one with
the internal visor, specifically due to my specs.
you dont say if you want / need this?
I only got my new flip on Tuesday, its the Lazer Revolution and its
brilliant, much less fog on the visor than my previous caberg Just One Plus
(which never leaked in two years) The Lazer also has the internal visor and
costs retail170 quid, only about 20 quid difference from the justissimo.
Then theres schuberths but their quite costly.

Im sure that someone more knowledgable will be along shortly :)

    Lazer Revolution.

    Good points:
Double glazed visor which may mist slightly or not at all depending on
the shape of your face & whether Mars is in Uranus. Or something.

Doesn't leak. At all. Not a drop.

Flip down internal dark visor for scaring small children, aided with a
bit of deep breathing & waving of a fluorescent light tube. Also handy
    for playing helicopter flight sims.

Very well built these days (although the early ones weren't).

    Bad points:
Heavy, so not recommended for bikes that put your arse several feet
    above your hands.

The visor 'hole' isn't very wide, so peripheral vision not as good as
others. Only a problem when trying to do a life saver on arse up hands
    down bikes as above.

The base of the helmet at the back is quite low, so can interfere with
your collar when riding arse up hands down bikes as above (can you see
    a pattern emerging here?)

In summary - not recommended for bikes with particularly extreme riding
positions such as MVs, 916s etc. Particularly recommended for bikes
with upright riding positions such as big trailies, tourers etc.

It's a bit mean on the sportsbike riding smokers really.

Nitro F317 has been recommended by some. I am unaware as to its
    performance in inclement weather.

Haven't you managed to scrounge one yet? I'll have to arrange for one of
my samples to be left behind in your care ;-)

My Nitro works fine in the rain, in as much as it doesn't leak and
ventilation is good enough to keep the visor relatively clear. It's the
quitest lid I've ever had too. Only costs £89-99 too

Not as yet; there would appear to be a strain of Tight Bastard in the
company (one might argue that this is how companies make profit). Any
    assistance appreciated; XL / 63cm. C:)

    Lozzo,
I'm thinking of buying a flip as well. I was really taken with Cabbage
Justissimo and was looking for a good deal on one, But would you recommend
the Nitro over a Cabbage? The dark visor thing, although very useful, is not
    a real requirement for me.
Your knowledgeable advice would be must welcome.
    Cheers.

I think your input and subsequent sales from that may actually help the
    company profit further.

I think I know what colour, any preference for matt or metallic gloss?

I haven't worn a Justissimo yet but I can see the attraction of the drop
down tinted visor thingy. I'm not altogether sure that warrants another
50 quid on the price over a J1 Plus though.

In comparison with the Caberg J1 plus, which I have used - the direct
competitor to the F317 - the Nitro is a better lid. It's quieter,
comfier, better vented, fibreglass as opposed to poly, removeable inner
lining for cleaning, removeable and multi-sized cheekpads etc etc, and
it's 10 quid cheaper. Mine doesn't leak when it rains, but there have
    been reports of Justissimos leaking.

It's up to you really, the Caberg is 60 quid more and has one feature
that ours doesn't, and that feature isn't something you're bothered
    about.

Can you recommend the best place to buy one?
If you can get them let me know and I'll give you my CC details.

    Cheers.

  15. The Shoei Syncrotec is what I use. I like it so much that when my first
one got nicked, I bought a second.

It's very light, and you can open and close the whatsit with one hand. I
also wear glasses, and so when riding in the wet, I'm effectively blinded,
but then no one notices the difference, anyway.

Disadvantage is the noise, and the fact that there's no screen when the lid
is open. Oh, and it's not cheap.

I can't do a deal for you myself, you'd have to go and search one out.
Colin Collins shops stock them, nearset one to you is Letchworth.
