Do you use online race pre-registration?

We have a service that allows motorsports racing groups to provide
online registration, I'm curious if any of you have used online
registration? It is hard to get racing groups to use online
registration even though the service is inexpensive and usually results
in increases participation and revenue. What would hold an organization
back from using such a service, just stuck in the old way of doing
things or what, have any thoughts?

Thank you for doing this, first of all. As a club racer (CCS), I've
seen my organization make several good attempts at it, but
unfortunately most have not been all that successful, though it's
getting better. I think the main problem is money and time. Mostly
time in fact. A lot of people running the operations have day jobs and
a lot of them aren't computer savvy. I've seen them lose records of
registrations and even license information on several occasions, though
eventually things were straightened out. But I've definitely missed a
lot of morning practice due to such hiccups, once even my entire day's
worth of practice! I was actually considering helping them out for
little or no money (maybe some reg fee kick-backs), having experience
with enterprise software myself. I think some of their problems are
not only taking registrations on the web, but also internal processing
and record keeping. A lot of it is still done with poorly designed
Excel spreadsheets, which are impossible to merge, etc. etc. Do you
have a working product or are you shopping it around for different
organizations to help pay to build it?

Thanks for the reply, all the issues you brought up are exactly why I
built SpeedReg. It is a working service that has more functionality
than most organizations know what to do with. Organizations that are
using it to its full potential are realizing gains in participation and
racer retention. We estimate that it saves about 80-90% of the time it
takes to process a mailed-in registration.

The issue with record keeping is very important, especially since the
registrar changes every year for most organizations. A registrar can
enter the mailed-in registrations and day-of-event registrations into
the system for free so they can have a record of all the registrations
in one place. All the people that need to access this information can
do so via the web at any time. We have a wizard that allows them to
export the registrations into a spreadsheet for use at the track,
import into the timing and scoring system, etc...

If you or anyone knows an organization like CCS that would be
interested in using the service we offer a $100 finders fee for getting
an organization to sign up and use it, a satisfied customer is our best
marketing tool. An organization can use the product for free for 3
months, and only pay us a service fee if they use the online credit
card payment option. The service fee is so small that I can't figure
out the issue(s) that are stopping them from using such a service. They
only pay a service fee if they receive an online registration with
payment (pay-as-you-go). Many organizations don't understand that the
convenience of online registration and a small amount of marketing can
go a long way toward improving their bottom line.

If anyone wants to get in contact with me you can do it via the contact
    page on the website http://www.speedreg.com/support/ContactUs.aspx
