Does anybody here know about classic Koni shocks?

    One of the XL250s I've got sports a pair of Koni shocks. It looks like
    the spring on these has been hand-painted black to make them look like
    OEM shocks - can anybody confirm that the springs should indeed be red?

    Also, I assume it's possible to dismantle them to paint the springs?
    Yes, I know that I'm likely to need spring compressors to do so.

    Koni did black springs too.

    Ah, thanks. I *thought* I had seen some red paint shining through but I
    guess I need to check that again.

    Aren't you supposed to be on a plane or something?

    I think after all this time fiddling with SOBs I should be able to tell the
    difference :).
