Does anyone here ride motorcycles?

Since I popped my head in here the other day, I expected to see a bunch
of ride reports. Now, I know it's been raining like crazy every evening
in the Houston area, but where is everyone? Anyway, just wanted to let
    everyone know...
I talked with Sunny for a few minutes today. She's still having quite a
bit of trouble with that infection in her leg. It has her knee swollen
pretty bad so that she can't bend it much at all. She said to tell
everyone hi and that hopefully she'll be feeling up to getting back to
the newsgroup before too long. Those of you with her phone number might
like to give her a call. She's pretty much couch-ridden :) these days.

Hope to see some moto content here soon.
I'm thinking about becoming a regular.
    Have a great day.

Hmmm. I ride everywhere, but its not something I would think anyone would
want to read a report about. I rode to work (cooler for a change here in
Dallas), rode out to lunch and back, rode home again. How about you?

Haven't put a mile on the bike today, but from Thursday to Sunday, put
about 130 miles a day on the Vulcan. I rode down to Galveston, around
the Texas City area, out to the beach. Just enjoyed the roads.
Oh...and the gallons of Gatorade. It's getting hard for me to ride in
104F temps. I guess I'm getting old. :) We had some great weather,
which deteriorated daily to afternoon lightning rainstorms here, but
that's all my fault. Hubby shamed me into washing my bike last week.
:-( I guess I should really blame it on *him*.

Someone in reecy came up with a good idea for staying hydrated on the road.
They said that a bicycle water bottle http://tinyurl.com/jtz7 which fits
into one of these http://tinyurl.com/jtzc that can be bolted to a windshield
nut easily. That could have saved me from getting a Camelbak that I use on
hot long rides. You could freeze a few waterbottles and stick them in your
bags and swap them out when they become empty.

  5. I know this, if you don't want a fight don't start an argument. If Bill is
the only one causing the problem, then Bill must be impersonating a lot of
people, because I see more than Bill responding. If its true, that all
these people want the non motorcycle stuff to go away, then they must stop
    responding to it.
I think there are quite a few people in this group that like a good argument
/ fight. Maybe even provoke it to mud slinging. Of course nothing can be
considered Texan without a good mud slinging.
Here is a simple concept that everyone can follow, if you don't like Bill's
or anyone else's post, don't respond to it, and they won't be able to
respond to you. The freedom of speech maybe guarenteed in the constitution,
but I don't need anyone's permission to ignore you.
Personally I enjoy some of the rantings that go on here. Some very
informative discussions have been put in this newsgroup and they don't
always have anything to do with motorcycles other than the fact bikers are
    involved.
I get involved in the discussions when I think I have something to say (or
maybe just a smartass comment), and sometimes I just bite my tongue and move
along because it'll do little to improve a conversation.
The easiest way to stop a conversation is to walk away. So if people are
truly tired of the conversation, just ignore it. Better yet start another
conversation relating to motorcycles. People will flock to good
conversations. Why complain about some other conversation when you could be
having a better one with everyone else.
    Just my opinion....

Since I popped my head in here the other day, I expected to see a bunch of
ride reports. Now, I know it's been raining like crazy every evening in the
Houston area, but where is everyone? <<

I suspect most folks didn't ride this weekend because of the heat. I put
about 600 miles on my ST Saturday and saw very few bikes. I left the house
at 5:30 AM and grabbed an early breakfast at Elaine's in Coldspring. Then I
took every small, twisty road I could find over to Toledo Bend and beyond
into Louisiana. Too darn many cops over there so I crossed back into
Ameri... er, Texas and ate a really good plate of fried catfish at a place I
think is named Bryce's Cove on Toledo Bend. Took a different set of small
twisty roads back to Houston. It rained pretty good for the last 30 or 40
minutes of my trip home. Got back about 7:30 PM, glad to be alive after
having ridden Houston's Loop 610 in the rain on a Saturday evening when half
    the drivers are drunk.

Now, if you're really bored and need to read about some 2-wheel travelin',
try my report about a 14 day trip I took to Oregon and back at
    http://www.hal-pc.org/~mmcham/wes02.html .

Just got back from Sturgis this past sunday. Weather was perfect the
entire week, the roads were great, traffic was something to behold
(you just don't see traffic jams like that in Amarillo), beer was
expensive, and I'm making plans to go back again next year! (taking
my own beer, and better maps)

    Well, Mag,

As I alluded to earlier in the restaurant poll Sunny started I rode out
to Blanco Monday morning before work. The goal was go get some cinnamon
rolls for the guys moving our lab. As I mentioned I got there too early
for the rolls and had to get to leave to come to work.

Anyway, it was a really nice ride. It was nice and cool and there isn't
much traffic at that time of the morning. The roads were over rolling
hills with enough turns to be fun. There were only two problems. As I
was heading to Dripping Springs from Hamilton Pool Road I damn near hit
a dead deer. It was lying in the road in a dip so I didn't see it until
I was upon it. Luckily I was in the left part of the lane. And when I
got back to town I kept getting bogged down in the SUV traffic. At one
point turning from 71 on to 360 I was behind 6 in a row! Fortunately "a
slow motorcycle beats a fast car".

I should have called in sick today as the temperature is in the 80's and
it would be a great day for riding.

motel room with me, wouldja? I think Sunny has it... :) (from ROT)

    Chip...block...
I didn't consider my post as complaining, I was just wondering why there
were only 2 posts that day. Thought maybe my ISP lost the ng feed or
    something.
A regular bitch, probably. I'm REALLY good at that. :) Just ask my

    <audible to others>

Can someone fetch Mag a copy of the memo dated several weeks ago
telling everyone to get out of Houston? She seems to have either
misplaced her copy or didn't receive one.

    <back to Mag>

Are you sure you didn't receive a copy of that memo?
Nope. I'm not in Austin...although I've been sighted making my way
    through there a couple times.
I don't get it? Are you saying we need to whittle away at something?
Well, by the way it was presented and at the same time others are
complaining it came across as trying to be topic police.

I don't know which day you only received 2 posts for a day, but I
don't remember a day lately that this has happened. You might want to
check with your provider and get that fixed.

Usually, there are a couple posts which start a thread and in those
first posts of the threads, there are several topics contained. Then
there are a couple people who only take the sections of the posts
which are off topic and want to "argue" the issues...on and on. Then
once they run out of stuff to "argue" about and their views turn to
crap, then they hollar about "off topic".

Take from each post what you will and leave the rest...but you know
all this from being on rec.moto.
He doesn't sound like too good of a hubby to tell others his wife is a
    "regular bitch".
That sounds like a fragrance of a body spray.

You really don't know much about "bikers", do you.. Most of them will talk
about "whatever" comes to mind.. Politics, cars, trucks, country, apple pie
and anything else that comes to mind...Especially motorcycles.. Come in for
    a little conversation sometime..
Sure do.. you still haven't made the "connection".. have you ??
Disrespect.. would that disrespect include telling someone they must not
discuss anything other than "topics".. Bullshit.. Get in the face of Sputnik
Strain, or Elmer McKeeghan, Mike Alvey, et al, who have battled this
disgrace of a political sytem for YOUR rights, as well as many others who
    enjoy this two wheeled lifestyle..
You are some kind of SILLY LITTLE SHIT.. Rant against my postings all you
want.. Your are still just a "Welfare Rider" with a complex .. Your
enchantment with a motorcycle doesn't qualify you.. Cheers..

Well there "Margaret M".. welcome to tx.moto.. Kind of a rough way to come
on board..LOL..Seems like a lot of folks have quite a bit of "shit" in the
craw, right.. Got shots flying from all directions.. Thought I'd take the
opportunity to tell you, it isn't like this ALL the time.. Gotta admit,
there is a whole heap goin' on in our state.. Kinda got everybody's feathers
all ruffled.. LOL.. again.. That seems to be MY job, for the time being..
Get 'em all mad enough, maybe they will get off their asses and start
fighting for what they believe in.. BTW.. one of the motorcycles you have
listed .. Vulcan 800.. Good bike.. I ride one.. recommend that bike to
anyone.. Anyway.. don't be discouraged about what is goin' on in this
group.. Good people and hot discussions, most of the time.. I even
contribute now and then.. He He He..

  18. Yep, one and the same, curly hair and all. Do you miss Charles' head in
    your photos? B-))

I had to stay late yesterday as it started raining the bottom out around
4:00 pm. So I got stuck in the parking lot known as MoPac. Fortunately
    I didn't get wet.
