Blimey, last time I tried to find one they were like gold dust round
here. Hence the shed building exercise which will move to phase 2 once I
    have finished demolishing fireplaces.

  8. £30 pcm, £300 cash for the year up front. It's secure, in a block
overlooked by houses, I have a few other garages there and go up there
    most days.

Talk to your council - I've got a couple of lock-ups off mine (M25
territory) for similar money - £35-40/mo. Good, solid, secure, dry.

  16. Lock-ups are as scarce as hell in my part of SW London. Really.

I was strolling around my father's 4(ish)-car garage [1] yesterday and it
felt a tad empty [2]. I'll have to start putting some stuff in there.

[1] built to house 2 cars, a caravan and a tractor, but I reckon that was a
    tad optimistic

Heh, my road Morini lived in my father's garage for a few years before I
moved to the house I'm in now. I took the YZ motor to be rebuilt
yesterday and marvelled yet again at the minute size of the unit the
business operates in. It is about half the size of my about 1.5ish car
garage. Then I realised how he manages it - no complete bikes on the
premises, just a few bike engines, fork legs and rear shocks apart from
the work benches, press, lathe etc.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know they rented garridges (I'm northern).
I have one from the council starting next month for £42pcm.

That was the best service the Council provided, I reckoned, in my
formative years. They even maintain 'em, even though they're
frequently not in the best areas and you can't get power to 'em unless
you live out the back of the block ... or possess a loong set of jump
leads and have a handy power pole.
JHC, that's got steep. Fiver a month, I used to pay. Per garage, 'cos
I used to have three adjacent, all sublet from legit Cooncil tenants
who had no use for them. Three makes a pukka workshop when you knock
out the dividing walls and ignore the sagging roof.
