Don't see why it should be. There are dozens of smaller tracks around
the country that survive on a diet of club races, touring cars, sports
    cars, etc. etc. etc.

I always thought the track to be less suitable for F1 than Silverstone
anyway, so am not unpleased by the result.

Bernie wanted to stiff the owners of Silverstone, the BRDC, and knew
that Donington was the only circuit that could put together a
politically viable bid. He also knew there was no way it could deliver
on its promises. Cue a slot in the calendar for a new territory, with
associated audiences, knowing that the British audience will watch the
race on TV whatever, and the only organisation that really suffers is
Donington who were only ever a pawn in a larger game to start with.

It's a shame really, but Donington has only joined Brands Hatch in the
    pantheon of second-rate British circuits.

Maybe if Tom Wheatcroft had spent his £millions more wisely in the first
place he wouldn't be looking at a laughing stock. Tbh, if I was his age
I'd be glad to be looking at all.

    Almost certainly.
I thought from the start that it was just a way of pressurising Silverstone
to do what Ecclestone wanted and it was likely to end with Donington running
out of money half way through.
