AndrewR & Eddie's recent trip to Donington has pushed me into booking a
    track day there.

After watching the narrated MotoGP lap on Sunday, I've decided that
blind entry, off camber hairpins are not my thing, so I'm doing the
    national circuit.

    Anyone who fancies joining me:

    - Sat 12th August.

This is a Road Silenced day.

I will be there racing on Sunday 13th, so anyone who is attending
and wants to hang around are more than welcome to do so.

  3. This reminds me of someone I know. She attended her first track day at
a circuit (Pukekoe in New Zealand) which has a rather sharp hairpin. On
her first circuit she was following people along and then suddenly
though "oh wow! I'm overtaking EVERYBODY!!". I make a challenge to this
group of guessing what happened next.

    Cheers,

Road Silenced? Surely that's a lot less than the 98dB(A) they allow?
    Road legal's more like 80 isn't it?

I might come over to see the racing... undecided on the trackday at the
moment, I don't think the ZRX would do donington justice.

Depends how it's measured, doesn't it?

On Monday, they basically said: road-legal cans would be fine; race cans
with a dB-killer should be OK; full race systems would probably be too
    loud, even with the dB-killer.

    82, at the moment.

It's 98dBA drive-by, not static. I.e. full throttle down the pit
straight. They describe this as roughly equivalent to road legal
    silencing. The 750's V5 claims 88dBA static, and 108dBA drive-by, which
is a bit strange, as Suzuki claims it meets next year's EU limit, which
    is 80 static...

It'd be fine. Just do it, as they say.

That is the worst excuse ever.

For someone who has such a great (looking) track so nearby I am amazed
    you've never been on it.

    The bike won't matter.

I'll probably pop along then, as I'll be staying up there the whole
    weekend anyway.

You all think he's making that up, don't you?

I think that's how the guy on the green ZX-6R was riding. He overtook me
once (in the pit exit, the cheeky twat) and AndrewR once (under a red
    flag, the idiot).

I'm sure there will be spare tickets around if you
need one, and I'm booking a garage too so there
should be drinks and seating to boot.

I'll be travelling up saturday afternoon, so will probably be
at the circuit by the time the trackday finishes. If you're
camping then just stay in the circuit and you won't have
to pay the entry for the sunday ;-)

I suspect he wasn't actually at the briefing, as all the PB boys seemed
to turn up later, but that was one thing they did specifically mention.

It was indeed the briefest briefing at which I've ever been briefed.

I did a track day at Snetterton a few years back with a bloke with the
same bike as Rob's - he was hanging off it like a monkey and leaving
just about everyone else for dead - and by the look of the grin on his
face enjoying every minute of it.

I think Ginge is scared he might enjoy it too much ;-)
