You must have a bizzare way of explaining "luck" ClemTech

1st race knocked down and out first corner
Then 2 x tyre failures in China
Then a engine failure in France

Shit happens, lets see if can make up the points lost....

but I loved to watch Kevin Schwantz for his ability to

Because he won more races than anyone else? He was a great rider, but how
hard is it to win when you're the only rider in the race on a "factory
    sponsored bike"?

like our friend Rocatanski said, riders from different eras cant be
    compared.
i dont think doohan had much competitoin, others will argue
and say Rossi has none.i think racing was at its most competetive in
the late '80s early '90s but is that because there were so many great
riders or none.if the likes of schwants and rainey were to debut this
year would they be winning or filling the last two places, noone will
    ever know.
unfortunately records are the only way we have of comparing
these riders so i guess, for now anyway, agostini is the best
    ever........................................

....and Why TF do people get so emotive about it?

Unless everybody races on identical bikes, it's hard to say that one is
better than the other. It's impossible to say who's best across eras with
    different types of bikes.

Now, if we could line up some of those names mentioned, magically restore
them to the peak of their abilities, and get them all on identical bikes at
the same location... (say PI) we'd have a bloody great race!

If you go through the records Giacomo Agostini, Barry Sheene, Freddie
Spencer, Mike Hailwood, Kenny Roberts, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey,Wayne
Gardner, Michael Doohan and Valentino Rossi are or were all great riders, I
believe to say that one is better than the other is only degrading to the
fine efforts of racing they did in their time over the years.

I loved watching Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey,Wayne Gardner, Michael Doohan in
the past and I love watching Rossi now.

For me they are all great and the best at this time is Rossi.

Yep; karma seems to be re-balancing a bit this year.
Still; it's early days and he's got two wins and no injuries so it's gotta'
get a lot worse before I'd call it "bad" luck!

Further to the above... anyone heard of a 500cc San Venero? I tried to
www.justfuckinggoogleit.com) info about it - but I keep drawing a
blank. It apparently won a 500cc GP race years ago

I don't suppose this translated link will explain it better
    http://tinyurl.com/jppyo
but Angel "Grandson" is very superstitious and won't admit that he won 13.

  16. Correct for one point. May 9th 1982, French GP, Michel Frutschi from
Switzerland, Sanvenero 500. It wasn't that the Italian Sanvenero was
any good; it was because the factories had boycotted the Nogaro
circuit on acount of its poor condition. But I'm betting Michel is
still dining out on his GP win.

A Sanvenero 125 won the Belgian GP in 1982, ridden by one R. Tormo
from Spain, and Pierpaolo Bianchi was 8th in the 125cc championship in
    1983.

He shouldn't have even got that far in France

he should had received a ride through for that ridiculous move at the first
corner and the mess he created
