As the reason it is held after the Elefant to allow people to do 1, then
t'other, I reckon you would get in.

True, a lot are shit. But I do get to some good ones.

The UK Route66 (New York to California) used to be good. The TTT in Orkney
was a hoot and we are off to the Simmer Dim in Shetland this summer and as
the ticket price includes food and beer I am looking forward to it.

Oh, and I like the ride to Wales when it is empty.

It's fully booked, not that I'm planning on bothering. I wonder how many
    no-shows they'll have?

Is that the crashing part of the cold or is it the hands and feet
    getting cold bit ?

I can thoroughly recommend the EXO2 stormrider heated vest as a toasty
motorcycling accessory. The heated gloves do a nice job too but I found
the faffing about plugging them in and trying to get them in the storm
cuffs far too time consuming and fiddly. Very noticeable when you forget
to plug them in too ;-)

  7. The latter. I occasionally use the old fishermen's trick of stimulating
blood flow to the hands by plunging them into cold water and letting
them warm up - marvellous. You can't do that in most places though and
certainly not to your feet, at least not conveniently.
Tis better, as you say, to keep them warm in the first place, and I've
amassed a fairly effective assortment of water/weatherproof kit over the
years. The first line of defence is a decent fairing of course and I
wouldn't ride a bike in the winter without one, nowadays.

Even so; it's become more obvious that circulation to the extremities
isn't as good as it used to be and the effects of cold are now more
painful than in any way enjoyable - **** the pain, I want comfort.

Remember my comments about having a second feed for the gloves?

Well, as it happens it was *not* an airfield.

A cracking piece of land, wooded and non wooded with a nice muddy track to
the top field to play with the XJ900 on.

Not as extreme as the Elefant, admittedly, but it was cold enough for the
tent to stand on its own in the morning.

A good level of foreign rides, I saw Spanish, German, Duthc and Swiss
    plates.

There were clear, but dark, skies at 06:30 this morning, as I puked up.

Mark was amused/bemused later in the morning when he heard me utter the
    words.

"Show me to the A55, dual carriage way and motorway all the way home,
    bliss"

    :D

Fig rolls; you *can* have too much...
You didn't actually drink that Redex did you? I spat mine out...

I had a blast. Thank you for yours and the charming Mrs YTC's company.
    And the tea.

I do apologise for any inappropriateness from the locals; they're like
    that sometimes :)
He's so taken with the whole thing he's going to approach the organisers
and ask if they would like to use his fields next year.........

I was disappointed that I appeared to be the only 400/4 :(

Weather was fantastic the rest of the afternoon so once unpacked I
hooned about on the Honda until it got dark :D

    Hmmmm.... yes...... both bottles :-(
Ah, but they are not real locals are they :)
    I'd prefer a summer rally.

Having said that, I notice the Krystal Rally does not do camping, so that
    is a bonus :)

Maybe, but there was the Ducati 900SS showing how to ride on
    mud/grass/ice :)

It was noted you left the site with no gloves, we hope you had some.

Once home, I managed to get the bikes washed, and then went to sleep.

Yeah, we keep looking at it and deciding not to bother. I *might* go
one day but not before I do the Primus Borealis.

    I noticed eventually :)
I'd stuffed 'em in me backpack so I waited until I had some tarmac and
    stuck them on....

Beer + Tent + Wet and not as cold. Middle of June, innit. Even they get
    above freezing then.
