Keep an eye out, there's supposed to be a replacement for the E1 very
    soon.
I think the FourThirds system is supported well enough TBH. There's
'enough' lenses. Not only that, but you can get an adapter to use all of
the other lens mounts as well, so you can easily get cheap Pentax and
Nikon lenses off ebay. They all work manually, just the same as the old
    OM stuff.
That's not quite such a true statement anymore though, the CCD and post
exposure processing makes a lot of difference too. Of course you have to
have a good lens, but you need the rest to be good too now, where you
could get away with a mediocre body before.

  4. Wow. Same vantage point for the bird table, I assume? The back door?
    Soon, my precioussssss, very soon.

I like the sound of being able to use Nikon/Canon lenses with the
adaptor - plenty of cheap ones around now because of a whole generation
    unused to manual focusing etc.

Yes, I was actually in the dining room, through the patio door for all
these shots. Obviously I didn't take too much time setting up, I didn't
quite get the focus I wanted, I just rattled all theses off fairly
quickly. But you can see the sun flower in the wide angle shots too, so
you get an idea of what can be done. Two of the lenses I have cost less
than £50 together (the 75-300 and the 500mm mirror).
Yes, I've noticed that too. Just one caveat, make sure the lenses you
buy have a depth of field preview (I have one here that doesn't). The
adapters rely on this to close down the aperture, otherwise you only get
    a wide open aperture.

I could also mention the fact that I'm still on the first battery charge
at nearly 500 shots, and it still shows a green full charge. And the CCD
cleaner system seems to work as well - at least as far as reports go.

I've got the 400D - v nice but if you have very big hands you might find
it a bit small/difficult to hold - also a bit light for those who like
the 'hewn from billet steel' feel/weight to their SLRs (but not me if
I'm lugging it around all day at horse shows and the like).

As above if you have no personal opinion about nikon or canon try both
and see what you like. I'm a Canon person but don't ask me to explain
    why - just historic.

don't be afraid of secondhand lenses - I got a 70-300mm EF zoom for 1/3
    new price.

Interesting offer, but for me the step up isn't big enough.
I think my next one will be the next 30d equivalent for the EF-S
    compatibility. Cheers anyway though.
