Bad form, but it may even be a non-replica of Mike Hailwood's bike.

I'm not prepared to pursue my line of inquiry any longer as I think this
is getting too silly! Anyway, I've got to go and do the shopping.

Neither of the three MHRs[1] I've known well have looked like the one in
Eiron's pic. All of them had the full length side panels and fully
    painted tanks.

The MHR was introduced in 1979 with a glass tank of dubious legality
with the fuel gauge unpainted stripe on the side. By 1980 it had a steel
tank. The 750SS of 1974 was similar.

I'm /fairly/ certain mine was a '79, but don't know for sure & the only
way I'll find out is to go rummaging through old photos. It was an
early one, being kick-start only (ouch).

IIRC, it had a steel tank. But, yes, the unpainted strip on g/f tanks
existed. It was done on the 750SS and the 750 race bikes. Cook
Nielson's famous race-winning Ducati had a fly trapped in the gel coat
    on the unpainted strip.

And I think it's entirely appropriate that whilst other manufacturers
tease and hint, the Kawasaki bird shows you her ****.
