Can anyone recommend a good ol' school Ducati mechanic in Melbourne to
    service a Darmah SD900?

Dont care much if they havent a shop front, just need someone that
loves working on these specimens and takes pride in their work.

And on anothe note, are there any HD owners in this group?

The only one I knew of it's doing it anymore.

No leads in the Ducati club? They are going to be the best ones to
try. Or ring Gowanloch in Sydney and ask them who they recommend in
    Melbourne.

Gowies gave me a phone number of someone in Sydenham. I havent rang
him yet but the lads at Gowies have heard good praise for his work.

I am thinking of buying a used HD Sportster around 1995 - onwards and
just scouting around for some info on what things to look out for,
and the specific models (years) to avoid. Chronic issues..., bad /
    good habits. etc...

They haven't changed them since around 1958 so I can't see how you
could get a bad year (or at least one any worse than any other)...

Good, bad, chronic. Hmmm. The brakes are chronic, the handling is bad
and the good part is you only pay half as much as a fatboy for that
    badge.

Buy a Jap cruiser or if you want a non-Jap cruiser buy a Trumpy
America or a Guzzi Cali - a thousand percent better bikes
