The current Blackbird linked braking system is much worse than than the setup
on the early CBR1000s. You'd think that a company like Honda would improve
their bikes. They're practically death machines. Buy a Kawasaki.

I think you could *safely* say MORE riders have been killed or maimed o
    hahondas than any other brand....

    "Safety in numbers" indeed

Each to their own I guess but I never had an issue with the linked
    system ...

As to how they make it a death machine is beyond me ... maybe linked
brakes aren't to everyone's liking but as for them being dangerous
that is bollocks Nev. It'd be like saying that automatic cars are
death traps because someone who drives a manual is going to
accidentally stomp the brake instead of the clutch when they change
    cars and lose control.

I actually found the ability to hold some rear brake (and therefore
front brake as well) going into a corner while releasing the front
brake earlier than you normally would was quite handy. (Had to get out
of that habit real quick when I got on the Busa :)

    YMMV

    Cheers

(And stop feeding Hatz material will ya!)

Well, actually, everything I wrote was quite a long way from the truth, but
since a quick google reveals that in the past 5 years M.T. has participated in
just about every aus.moto thread discussing "linked brakes" and in just about
every one of these threads it has been pointed out that the DCBS on the XX is
now far advanced from their earlier attempts on the CBR1000s yet he still
seems rather uncertain about the whole deal. W.S. will probably have picked
and bought two new sets of tyres before M.T. believes us, Kev!

If DCBS was so great, why isn't it on all of Honda's road bikes?

As I said, if the rear brake only operated the rear brake then yeah,
it'd be a good thing. But it doesn't. And road tests of current 'birds
indicate that it ain't much more advanced than what I've experienced
    with it, anyway...

ABS is supposed to be pretty "great" but I'm sure BMW have their reasons for
not installing it as standard equipment on all BMW road bikes.

    I've got 25,000km on my 2002 ST4s - hasn't missed a beat, and is
absolutely awesome. There is a nice yahoo ST owners list, and certainly
there aren't general reliability complaints there - most owners on that
    list have no serious trouble.

Servicing is expensive, but I just work it our per kilometre travelled,
and it sounds much more reasonable :)

Hehe. Only the other day I was coasting into the garage, applied a little
rear brake and pulled an endo straight into the wall.

Would never have happened on the Ducati eh Hatz? :)

(Actually, the Duck had the most 'wooden' (read "shizen"... or for you Hatz,
"merda") rear brake I've ever used. Thankfully the fronts were amazing.)

  15. Being Italian prob. related to the PrancingHorse brand Ferrari....

Old man Enzo got sick and tired of customers complaints about poor brakes
and said "i make them to go not to stop"

The bike shop where the ST4s is estimates about $400 for a service,
which they reckon is about half of what Moto One, the Melbourne Ducati
    dealer would charge.
