It's Llamas you need to watch out for. Especially if you're swimming.

We found a 3 bedroom dormer (conversion) bungalow ticking all those
boxes except the cellar, just up the road.

It was, unsurprisingly, sold within days of going on sale, before we
could even get our place on the market.

There's some like that near me (3 bed), and they're exactly what I
    want.

    Unfortunately I don't have a spare 600k.

That's a lot of money for a house in Wolverhampton.

The prices have only gone up because they've heard darsy is moving
    there.

Yeah, I'd prefer to spend about what blaney did on his place... or
    le...fewer.

    Heh.

Actually, I moved to Wales for a number of reasons - one of which was so
we could pay the mortgage off before our 35th birthdays.

    No, not yet.

It has been recovered to a salvage pound in Newport.

So, 'prace bets now' on it still being there next week....

What worries me, though, is that if it's stood outside, the storage may
do more damage than the pikeys did to it.

    SteveH, Dec 24, 2009
  11. I'd be more worried about the storage charges over the Christmas period.

Biggest scam going, storage charges. A little bit of damage, storage at
£x a day +_VAT, and they write off the bike and the storage company gets
    another cheap motorcycle.

Already cleared this one with plod - I won't be charged for storage.

You can pick up houses in certain, all but derelict, suburbs of
Detroit for $10 at the moment.

Admittedly they tend to be burned out and stripped of anything of
worth such as pipework etc... and I'm sure the legal paperwork etc
involved in buy it will bump the cost up by several grand, but it's
    still ridiculously cheap.

Not if they were all good sized double bedrooms, and there were 2
    proper bathrooms.

  18. Perfectly habitable places are available for 5 grand.

    Amazing, isn't it?

I know they tend to be in not particularly pleasant areas, but they're
still a house you can own outright.

I read another article the other day which outlined how the average
annual wage in one state was something like $4.5k.

Not exactly the imagery most have of the States, is it.

    JackH, Dec 24, 2009
  20. Can't be. Federal minimum wage is more than that. Unless they count
annual earnings of part-time workers without normalizing for the hours
    they work.
