    Eh?

Surely it would look more like one two-floor box next to a one-floor
    box?

Or even a house with a steep pitched roof and dormer bedrooms. Not
totally unlike a pyramid, but lacking its full symmetry.

Two British Ben's with gixxers? It'd blow their tiny little minds.

What's "odd" about having a giant terrace next to your bedrooms?
    I'd quite fancy one. :)

bedrooms on ground floor next to garage, day rooms upstairs with terrace on
garage roof. Even better if built into a hillside so you can walk from
    terrace to garden.

  8. Your making me think about my old place.

For those who haven't been to one of my parties or stayed on the way to
the continent, the web site I wrote to help sell it:

That's a bit awesome. Out of my budget I expect.

it looks a bit "old folks home" but I like the energy conservation thing.

I've thought about building a berm house like my mate built at his field
studies centre in the Wye Valley. Says built in 1988 but I'm sure it was
built some time before then, as I changed jobs in 1986 and visited prior to
    that. http://www.caerllan.co.uk/berm.html

  17. I like them, but I'm not spending that kind of money on one. I'm
stealing the idea when I get round to building my own house, where the
    costs will be significantly less.

  18. If you want maximum solar capture that's what it looks like.

But, yes one of the possibilities it could be turned into to help its
sale when we moved on to the next challenge.
    Nice.

I looked at burying it but the cost of tanking was enormous , hence to
gap at the back and the 'drawbridge'.

As for TV, The 'Max Files' ( he called it an electronic cottage I think)
plus one of the modern design programs did a thing on the house.

  19. But I had it built 20 years ago.

Maybe it's called planning ahead. :)>

I got a kit from them delivered, and GALMI for
the fitting. Less professional, but somewhat cheaper
    all round.
