As a noobie rider (well 12mths) I was put on the spot by a mate who is just
getting his license now. He asked what I thought about Ducattis.
I said Christ dont get one of them, they suck so bad and are just for
    yuppies.
He then asked why Ducattis suck...
Appart from me telling him they just do... can anyone fill me in on why
Ducattis are such peices of shit ??

And in the spirit of harsh week (year) - fugyouseall

Or maybe owners rave about Ducati's and Harley's because no-one wants to
admit to spending a small fortune to buy a piece of shit in a desperate attempt to
    buy into some perceived coolness?

You don't know why but you know they are?

    Ah well..

When you can define "piece of shit" as regards motorcycles, come back,
    OK?

    Zebee
    - who has met bad bikes from all manufacturers, but has met good ones
from them all too. except maybe Lilac, don't reckon anything could
    have saved them...

So you really don't know? Hmmm... Why then do you say they suck?

I've had a few, and they've been good. They've needed maintaining, but so do
all bikes (later models seem to me to cost a hell of a lot for services). I
know other people have had one that sucked big time, and somehow conclude
that their sample survey of one applies to all. One Honda I owned sucked -
therefore they all must? Of course not, and my next bike may well be a
Honda. Or a Guzzi. Or a Yammie. Or a Beemer. Or a <insert motorcycle of
choice>. But definitely not a cruiser. ;^) They *are* yuppie pieces of
    shit! ;^)

People should just ride what you want and not give a rat's arse about
fitting in with other people's beliefs. Who knows, they may come up with an
thought or belief of their very own.
    Sure you're not trolling?

    gofuggyourselfthen ;^)

It's simple really; when the piston goes down the air inside the cylinder
expands and is of a lower pressure than the air outside.
When the inlet valve opens the outside air rushes in creating the "sucking"
    noise you're hearing.
The bigger the displacement the bigger the suck; so a Ducati 999 (with
499.5ccs of displacement per cylinder) will always suck more than Fireblade
(with only 250-ish ccs per cylinder).

Now; see if you can get your partner to show you why suck is a good thing.

ducatti's are a piece of shit, in fact they are so shit they don't make
em in fact they are sooo shit they were never made.
The Ducati on the other hand, apart from service costs are a damn good bike.

Yeah, I'd stay right away from them, biggest piece of shit I've ever owned. I mean, who'd have thought that a 600SS could go 43,000
klm without anything major going wrong. The 600 had piston slap installed at the factory, they are definately not reliable, are no
fun at all to ride. You are forever getting people coming up to you and saying "geez mate, your bike sounds just like a VTR"
