Strangely enough, when recounting this odd thing in work today, a
number if people said that was what their mum's did, too.

Dunno whether I wasn't subjected to that sort of thing cos I had loads
of probs and ops on the ears as a kid, so I got the prescription stuff
to sort it out is why, though.

No but they are very handy for sucking out partially dissolved wax.

Thanks Nick, but at this stage of the game I don't think I'll be trying
that for now. What's worse than earache? A burst eardrum?

I'm guessing you haven't suffered with your ears in your lifetime.

    Lucky bistid, if so.

Nope - I can't stand having things in my ears due to lots of probs with
the bleeding things as a kid.

I've tried in the past, but I just cannot put up with having something
    there.

  7. Are you going deaf? HE SAID "HOPI EAR CANDLE".

It's a Native American thing, stick it in your ear, light it, let it
    suck out the crap.

  8. And half a dozen people replying to your post, saying that warm olive
    oil is just the ticket.

FOAK, indeed. Who needs doctors when you have ukrm?

Mmm, my doc says the only thing you should put in your ears are your elbows
and having lived with that sentiment all me life, I agree 100%. I'm loathe
to put plugs in when I ride, but as they're essential equipment when you've
got a Caberg Justissimo, in they go. As they don't go deep and they're clean
though, I haven't had a problem, but I wouldn't put olive oil in my dogs
    ears, let alone my own.

Actually, IIRC, the ears do increase wax production in an attempt to
    protect against excessive noise.

Believe me, I've had problems with my ears, so I know what I'm talking
    about.

Also, remember that a "bunged-up ear" doesn't necessarily mean an excess
of wax in the outer ear; it could also be the middle or inner ear that
    is blocked.

Blimey, I knew the damn Fiat was noisy for a car, but, wtf?
    So do I, dear.
Err, been to the docs. Got a diagnosis. Got to do drops for a week or
so before they will even consider doing the syringy thingy. And, I
    don't want that.
