I used to wear laser lite earplugs with my KBC VR1 helmet, but a few
months ago i decided to get a new helmet as the KBC one i decided was
too big and moved around a bit. So i am now the proud owner of an Arai
astro R, (Schwantz...the fastest colour!). Now this helmet fits a lot
better, and is very comfy + doesnt move about, BUT if i wear my
earplugs for a few hours, they become very painful, made worse when
turning head a lot, as in a lifesaver.

I swapped to max lite earplugs as they are supposed to be softer, but
still the same problem. Anyone else had this, and can they reccommend
some earplugs? Or is it likely to get better as the helmet lining 'beds
in'. I did think of getting some custom plugs made but then if its
still the same problem that'll be 50 quid down the drain. (And as i
live in Newcastle, theres no where round here does them as far as i can
see... Green leopard & Ultimate ear are all down south)

If the knowledge of UKRM reckons that custom plugs will help, then does
anyone know of a place in the NE that can make a decent pair?

    Cheers all

Yes, easier, but the moist conditions encourage infection, unless
you're moistening them with an antiseptic solution.

Try a pair of Ear Soft. You may also find that corded plugs are less
comfortable than uncorded. The cord can vibrate and start annoying.

If you can make it to one of the shows, they normally do on the spot
earplugs, or 'take the moulds on the spot and we'll send you the plugs'

    Catman did scribe:

There was someone at Silverstone this weekend, but he wanted £55 a go.
Quite a bit for a set of plugs, I thought.. (he offered to do them for
£45, but still rather steep imho)

Yeham I paid £50 for mine. They are (IMO) rather good though.

Well I've got one at the moment, caused, I think, by insufficient
drying after spending half of Sunday in the pool[1]. Painful, it is.

[1] Despite the Chlorine level being slightly higher than required - a
low Cl level will very often give rise to such infections.
