    BPO 807W?

    Ahhh, that now makes sense.

In which case - it's on the correct plate for the year it was built /
first used, which is what counts when registering an import.

(Our 156 Sportwagon was built in 2002, imported to the UK in 2006, but
wasn't used before this date, so got a 56 plate)

Steve, you're a very sad person if you have to waste your time
checking on the legality of someone elses reg. plate. Get a life.

'Checking' involved looking at it and thinking 'no, that's not right'.

I've not seen the paper work but I've insured it from Sunday when I
    pick it up [1]

however Loz reliably informs me that the stripes are too many for the
year. it should have two stripes not three. not that it matters to me
whether its truly accurate, I just wanted a nice one not a piece of
    crap.

as to whether it'll make it to Chimay...I'm more interested to see if
    it gets me home first!

[1] cost to remove turbo and add this 22 quid. bargain.

Do you know which part of foreign it came from? Did they have different
    colour schemes in different markets?

All LCs from 1980 to 1982 regardless of market had the original two
stripe paintwork in two-tone red or blue on white, or two-tone red on
black, in 1982 they changed the European market ones to three stripes
and brought in other graphics for other markets.

  8. Not really, not that early. The blue/white was the earliest, and I know
they had that in Froggie because they raced them in the Coupe Gauloises
Yamaha (their equivalent of the Pro-Am, and with the same hilarity and
    carnage)
