That's because you're using a shite newsreader that can't properly cope
    with wrapped URLs, then.

    What:
"eBay will make your PERSONAL eBay activity available to 3rd parties,
including foreign government agencies - accessible by only your eBay
User ID. Don't do anything on eBay that you're not prepared to be
seen by anybody eBay wishes to give account browsing access rights."

    Who gives a flying ****?

I'm certain that no "foreign government agency" is going to give a
hoot, let alone two, what I buy and sell on eBay.

You fall for them all, don't you Rog? Or is it that you just love all
the groundless scares and conspiracy theories?

    <sigh>

That's because a) Rog's newsreader wrapped the url
and b) You were too thick to unwrap it.

I'm trying to work out which one of you cunts is the stupid one.

I care about privacy Pip. As a general priciple:
If they are going to circumvent our passworded accounts, at least they
could be upfront and honest about it.

Like targetted spam etc based on browsing history do you?
    I don't.

It's not the ebay or black helicopters thing but the "We can only protect
FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY by wearing natty leather coats and, quite frankly,
ridiculous trousers" that's getting a bit of a pisser.

Sorry - what I meant by the leather coat and trouser remark was to
illustrate the encroaching tide of secret police forces in the spurious
name of war on terror. Even the Stasi made an effort to be subtle FFS.

Point was badly made I accept but it's an image I find amusing.

    Ahh!

Did you hear Blunket this morning on R4 today programme?

Rattling on about fear and ID cards and the 11th sept etc etc.

    What a loon.

I'll take great pleasure in being among the first to publicly burn any ID
    card they foist on me.

Foreign powers aside, the UK Taxman and Vatman can directly
monitor your eBay activities at source without your knowledge. So
you're clearing out your garage via eBay and next thing you get a
letter saying you're running an undeclared business and you owe
    "xxxxx.xx" GPB in taxes.

If it were a real person monitoring your affairs you needn't
worry. BUt they use software to flag suspicious activity. However
the Taxman employs unskilled people to **** up their computers.

Be afraid, be very afraid. Once they have a figure on their
computer which they say you owe it's virtually impossible to
argue otherwise, even in court, regardless of whatever proof you
have to the contrary. I say this from bitter personal experience.
