    <cooks popcorn>

I have to be honest and say the only sidecar I've ridden any distance on the
road was a BSA v-twin which had been supplied coupled from new sometime in
the 1800's. Something like this www.roncobb.com/photoBSAG14.html
It went surprisingly well but I didn't manage to exceed 40mph either.

Seen this work of aluminium art before?

  2. **** me - mine hovers around 140/90 and LU find that quite acceptable.
Nothing to do with needing someone to drive their trains... Oh no!

On another tack - your name was mentioned WRT this '3 and out' film and
a TV interview. The word on the ground is that we're bloody outraged
that LUL even considered being party to this kind of tripe.

    No need - it's pay-at-the-gate.

    See you in January.

If his descriptions of the current outfit are correct it's a hell of a
lot worse than the version he's aiming for.

  6. I'm not doing it on his behalf (the Union works for me, not me for them
    - at least that's how it should be, I'm told) and Mr Norman should well
    know that.

I think the whole idea was in very poor taste at the very least.

The very idea that we imply to the general public that after 3 'one
unders' we're shipped out on a full pension is barking for starters.
It's just another thing for the Evening Standard to beat us with when
they start on their 'they all earn too much, work too few hours, too
    many holidays' rampage.

And to trivialise something as serious as this and suggest what they do
(that a driver might try and get someone to jump in front of their
train) is tantamount to murder IMO. What message does this send to
anyone on the brink who might consider this as an option?

I need to calm down with another glass of wine...

That's certainly what's been communicated up from the reps and branches.
Classic LUL - didn't think. Morons

I did a number of interviews yesterday; live in studio and pre-recorded
for BBC, ITV and LBC (?) radio.

Post would be good - how tricky would it be to put it on UKRM-Nova or
just drop it on my ftp server?

Given the reaction from the drivers on LUL and correspondence that's come
in - and its obviously touched a nerve - if we failed to deal with a
matter they don't view as minor or inconsequential then I'm not doing my
    job.

Your "let them eat cake" response goes a long way in explaining the
managerial relationship with both the staff and passengers.

Turn off the lights in any unused room. Turn down your heating by one
degree. All spouted as "making a diference" by the same cunts who won't even
    make a "gesture".

It may only be a tiny jot but it DOES make a difference.

But there is no need to conserve electricity. We can generate more than
    enough cleanly.

If nuclear power was taken up wholesale to replace other mainstream
energy sources, how long would global uranium reserves last? Would we be
talking another peak oil situation a few years further down the line?

Current known reserves [1] are good for a few hundred years, a few thousand if
we recycle the fuel in fast breeder reactors. The major issue is politics,
fast breeders create the next generation of fuel as a byproduct but the
recycling process can easily be diverted to weapons grade.

This means that in practice the politicos will only allow non-breeding
reactors whose waste cannot be easily reprocessed as new fuel.

OK - this is a BIG simplification, but close enough to answer the question.

[1] Known reserves are probably only a tiny fraction of the real potential
because the current oversupply does not encourage prospecting.
