No, you're not wrong. That's pretty much what I said a couple of years
    back after the U.S. elections.

Both parties moved to the centre, Howard even coughed up on climate
change and recognising Aborigines in the Constitution.

As I predicted, the Libs lost it mostly because of IR.

? the libs have been increasingly moving to the right over the years,
particularly since they booted the 'wets' out the parliamentary party,
and the NSW right has been running liberal agendas.
A couple of llines in the preamble is recognising Aborigines? Has to
be one of the biggest con jobs the libs have offered regards
indigenous Australians. And they still won't say sorry.

I meant since the U.S. elections in 2006.
    Neither has Rudd yet...

    From http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2007/s2099165.htm

"3AW HOST: Will you use the word "sorry"?

KEVIN RUDD: Well, the substance of it will be sorry, apology, but
frankly if you ask me for the precise form of language.

3AW HOST: No, I'm asking for that one word, because this is where the
Prime Minister has been targeted. Will you use the word "sorry"?

KEVIN RUDD: Yeah, I said in the debate against the Prime Minister at the
beginning of the campaign that we're elected to form the next government
of Australia, I will as Prime Minister of the country of course express
an apology, and I make no bones with that.

3AW HOST: But the Prime Minister has already done that. Will you say sorry?

KEVIN RUDD: Well apology is sorry, it's the same thing.

KAREN BARLOW: Mr Rudd eventually came back with this.

KEVIN RUDD: I thought you were asking me what the precise form of
    language to be used.

    3AW HOST: Oh, I see.

KEVIN RUDD: And that's what I was … you know, being cautious about
because we haven't framed that, but of course the substance of it is
    sorry, that's correct."

I'd lay odds on Labor saying sorry sooner rather than later. And the
irony seems to be that Turnbull lost his chance of leadership of the
opposition due (at least in part) to his preparedness to say sorry.

Well, he said that he would recognise the Aborigines.

We'll never know now if that was a core or non core promise.

So why did you vote for them then (as you claim to have done)

Whatever. They're in now, you can go around keeping the lib scare
campaign alive if you like. I'm sure the committed conservatives will
give you lots of validation I doubt anyone else cares about your whine.

BTW I'll put money that Iemma will go in NSW at the next election (I'll
certainly be happy to vote against him if they keep the hillsong goons
out of the preselection). Would have gone this election except a) they
tossed Brogden out and replaced him with a god botherer from somewhere
to the right of Genghis Khan and b) we needed a check on Howard's excesses.

<shrug> The plausibility of your claims are poor - you state one thing
while provide evidence to the contrary.

Yep; It's kinda' like those bicycle races around the velodrome where no-one
wants to lead until the last-lap bell rings and then they all go like
    buggery!
3 years until the next ring of the bell!

But people didn't vote for the GST Nev.
People voted to be unchained from an antiquated tax system after seeing all
those "information" ads from "Citizens for a better tax System".....

I think most were genuinely surprised when that turned out to be the GST.

I'd never vote for Turnbull after he engineered that whole republican
    referendum into an impossible selection.
He did the Rodent's dirty work (and happily accepted his 30-pieces-of-silver
safe-seat) all the while claiming he was on the republican's side.
I resent people who prey on the general public's gullibility.

    ****; I'd forgotten about that!
That cost me $1350 one year. "Oh; you don't have to pay it; the Super fund
pays it" said the tax department.
Yep; they paid it alright; and then just debited my account for it (plus
    interest!!)

    Are they?!!?
    When did they say that?
Last I heard that was waay back when Kim Beazley was leader before the
previous election (and then he admitted it would be impossible after the
    Liberals got back in).
Has someone from this government said it?
