Electric motorcycles

  1. I've been watching some very interesting videos on youtube of the
aforementioned creatures. I thought to myself, 'hmm, something like an
Aprilia RS125 would make a good candidate for a conversion.'

And there's a chap just down the road in Peacehaven who's done it!

    40HP, 40 mile range, 80MPH, 29p for a full charge!

    Run through:

    During the build:

Want. I might have to go and nick it - it'd make a cracking commuter
for me (10 mile round trip, never in the rush hour).

No use to me unless they can give it a 120 mile range, or they fit
plugs in the work bike bay..

Good, wasn't it. I was quietly impressed.

On that very subject I've just discovered the 2009 TT is going to have
    a 1 lap electric bikes race. http://www.ttxgp.com/

I usually manage to judge what people's attitudes to such things are,
and so don't lead the conversation into places where they might be
    uncomfortable.

Mind you, where I work now there's quite a few petrolheads, including
a couple of blokes who've just passed their bike test.

Very unlikely to be me, I save the 'potentially jail-worthy' speeds for
the track now, hence going down from litre-bikes to a slow 650 v-twin.

I'm being serious, This last year I've given serious consideration to
selling the SV and just keeping the CBR for track and the SpazzTrakka
for road. Riding at silly mental speed on the road just isn't fun any
more, I get a far far greater buzz from riding on track a few times a
    year.

No effort at all. I'll admit I can and do filter like a **** when the
need arises. I daren't think just how many serious violations of
traffic law I am able to commit within a two mile stretch of road when
I'm on one - certainly enough to put me inside I'd have thought.

That's one of the reasons I'm thinking of only having the 250 on the
road. It's not fast enough to get me nicked for anything serious enough
to put me away, or even lose my licence for any great length of time.

If I was doing a speed that would land me in jail they'd never get me

    Seriously? None of us.

You are getting caught up by the hype. I wonder how many people have
gone to jail for "dangerous driving" that was effectively excessive
speeding. I'll bet it's no more than a handful. The odds of anyone
you know being in that position are minimal.

Oh christ, yes - I'd forgotten about that! They must have been sat in
the office thinking "OK, let's see how far we can really go". A
