Ahem. Although I wouldn't be the first member of the family to risk
losing dangly bits under that flag: admittedly, most of them were shot
at rather than freezing their nadgers off in the company of imbeciles.

I'm all for it as long as have the right transport. It probably needs 3
wheels. Trouble is, like you, is somewhere to stash the damn thing.

it'd be a lot more fun if it were a few hundred miles south and 6
    months later in the year.

Whilst I can *understand* the appeal, it holds nothing for me - I can
stand the cold, but I don't *like* it.

My thought are around how to do it and not be cold. How hard can it be? I'm
often the only skier at 10,000ft in bad weather and low visibility.

Question to Bonners, do the organisers make any arrangements to have
firewood for buying in the vicinity? AKAYK

Theres a lot of fun to be had just doing something for the hell of it.

The easter French run always sounds like a laugh but I've never managed
to make it. This certainly sounds more entertaining.
It'll probably be too cold to be wet.
It's more like I'm not getting any younger and if I don't do it now I
    never will.

There's always the option of sharing the Ural-driving duties.

There is the matter of carring the patented sleeping bag warmer.
That and I was thinking of a genny and leccy heaters with a Gaggia coffee
machine. And a very large tent.

**** it, I may just drive.

I'm sure Champ, Kathryn and various other sun worshipers will be in the bar.

Sidecar outfits fetch some silly money!

Firewood used to be free and I think the same applies now. Apparently
you can buy straw to put under your tent for a bit of added
    insulation.

Allegedly the reason for free firewood was that gas cylinders froze
because of the low temperatures so you just get a fire going and then
rely on someone like Burnt keeping it going for the duration.

So basically we only need a large axe and a case of Budvar to keep him
    going.

A mate once welded up a quick, cheap and cheerful sidecar for an GSX250 when
that made it learner legal. No seat, just a frame and box. Indespension
wheel IIRC. How hard can it be if you have a garage and tools.

Well, something might come up on fleabay in time.

  15. Eric Baker, a neerdowell and hero of mine when I were nowt burra lad and
not yet even thinking of shaving used to have one like that but on a
Bonnie. His record for crashing was spilt between going straight over
the Roundabout at the Fortune of War and falling off on landing or
coming off the road just up from there and getting stuck in the hedge
while the bike went pilotless three parts the way across the field in
    the tractor ruts.

If Hog used the ever friendly google he could either find a link to
the rally for himself or he could look for my original post on the
subject which would also point him towards the required information.

    This sort of thing?

I saw it a couple of days later at the Great Malvern show, and took an even
    shakier picture:

Basically, a box with a wheel, and a couple of jerrycans on the front.

Laura will be legal on the Ural once she does her CBT, btw...

I've got an MSR Whisperlite stove which uses unleaded fuel and burns
so fiercely it'd keep even Burnt happy.

Won't you be needing it yourself?

Not much use on the ski slopes, which is the only place I plan to get cold.
