    I've been thinking. (I know, I know it's a fecking dangerous pastime)
Next year, I want to do the John o'Groats to Land's End ride.

    Here's the plan so far:
Saturday 22nd July : Ride to John o'Groats
Sunday 23 July : Turn round and ride to Land's End
Tuesday 25th July : Arrive in Land's end. Turn around and ride back.
I want to finish at the Rock & Blues at Pentrich on Thursday
    evening/Friday morning.

Anyone done the End to End trip? Any advice appreciated.
Anybody fancy joining in with the trip next year?

    It's a fucking long way.
Possibly, but I want to do the "main" leg in one hit and TBH, I rather
fancy LEJOG rather than JOGLE, just for a change.

Hmm. Do it in one hit?
I'd like to find out whether I'm up to doing it or not.
And its less days off work!
I'm ceratinly not up to doing it in 11 and a bit hours like Champ did!
    (I'm tooooooo old!)
Thanks for the link btw, but I'd already read that.
(I've got a vague recollection of reading the original bits in
    Superbike magazine)

The only reason I said JOGLE is that I'd be "pointing the right way"
for home at the RBCS at the end of it.
LEJOG might be more fun : Get the busy roads out of the way first.
    Worth some thought...

884 miles fits my definition of "a fucking long way" quite nicely, as it
    happens.

Make it interesting and stay off M and A roads as far as possible.

How long did you allow for stops along the way?

    It was a BMW K1200S wasn't it?

It didn't break down on that trip but ate it's gearbox a few days later I
    think.

Big Dave emerged from their own little world to say
You'd need a moody plate too, now that the A9 has a GATSO and 50mph speed
limit along most of it's length.

That's a point. With Champ's prostate, he's unlikely to be able to make
the best use of a more modern machine to break his record.

    Shame really.

That was part of the idea of taking a few days over doing the trip.
There's time to pick an "interesting" route.
(eg : The A85/A84 between Crianlarich and Lochearnhead used to be good.)

I'm planning on doing a similar run, but considering doing a corner to
corner style affair. I'm in the south east corner, go to south west,
then north west... No date set, though.

Oh, and I was planning to avoid motorways too. I plotted a 'coastal
run' which would take me about 8 days.

    That could be fun :
Dover - Cape Wrath - JOG - Lands End ?
How long are you thinking of taking for the trip?
