Enduro, Clutch and Port

Today I mostly went to specatate at a French Enduro, tried to sort the
clutch on the Yamaha and am now sipping a drop of port.

The enduro featured about 70 localish riders and started just 2 Kms
away from base. In typical gallic style a mere starting pistol was
scorned in place of a 12 bore. Lots of action on a special test just
after the start and then a route around the network of fantastic tracks
that criss-cross the countryside. After watching the first lap en
famille I got the Yamaha out after lunch and tried to get to watch at
the infamous 'Dead Crow' hill. Couldn't get there as the road was
closed but got to watch at a very challenging section with a steep hill
    after a hairpin.

Rode home via a couple of tracks suited to my limited abilities but
became more aware that the clutch really does need sorting, so while it
was still warm I drained the oil and popped the clutch cover off. I had
new plates ready, but as I should have guessed the clutch drum is
heavily notched. No wonder it drags so much. So a quick bodge with the
angle grinder tomorrow. and depending on how clattery it makes it,
treat it to a new drum next trip. The splines on the inner don't look
    too bad.

For Ace's attention the Rozes LBV port (1997) from Super-U is not too
bad. Equivalent of about 10 quid. Heavyish but as you say, perhaps not
as full bodied as you would wish. A nice 'peppery' flavour. That's as
much I can say really - Oz Clark I ain't.
