How long will it take to remove ?

Not having aquired the manual yet, I am guessing at
    a couple of hours. (1)

    1. In a well equipped garage. eg; bike lift, many good tools ,
a heater, a radio and two crates of beer.

Depends entirely upon the condition of the bike. You could quite easily
while away a couple of hours trying to remove a single salt corroded bolt.
My top tip would be label all loose wires so you stand a chance of
    connecting them back again.

Yep - two hours. This is how I see it panning out:

    Mins Task
1-5: Put bike on lift and raise.
    6-10: Have a beer.
11-12: Retune radio from static hiss to R4.
    13-14: Turn on heater.
    15-20: Have a beer.
21-30: Look at engine mounting bolts, take correct spanner/socket and
    attempt to undo but fail.
31-40: Have two beers and fag (optional).
41-50: Take large hammer, bash corrided bolt repeatedly in attempt to
    loosen.
    51-55: Have a beer.
56-60: Attempt to undo but fail once again.
61-70: Have two beers and fag (optional).
71-75: Retune radio from boring R4 debate and attempt to find some
    decent music. Fail.
76-85: Sit down by heater to contemplate next move. Have beer and fag
    (optional).
86-95: Apply WD40 to all corroded bolt and wait. Have another beer.
96-100: Find large metal pole, slip over socket handle for more
leverage and attempt to undo bolt.
101-110: Jump up and down repeatedly on metal pole. Still no movment.
111-120: Have a beer and decide that it's easier to 'get a man in'.

What's the alcohol content of the beer?

Use the angle grinder to cut the bolt heads off, *before* you drink all
    the beer

What I usually do is get some little pots of paint and put matching
paint dots on the two connectors to be rejoined.

Yes, I know, the loom is colour-coordinated, but you sometimes get
more than one (for example) green wire and occasionally the loom is so
grubby that it's hard to make out the colours anyway.

No it's not. IMNSHO, it's a fucking mad idea.

How many colours have you got and how long have you got to wait for all
the little dots of paint to to dry? I'll guarantee one won't and it'll
spread itself every where. And there's the problem of the paint wiping
off, which it will do on certain plastic connectors and oily covers.

If you're really worried about which wire goes where, little masking tape
'flags' is quicker, easier and cheaper.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

IME this is a very bad and very expensive idea. Tea[1] before and
    during, beer after.

    [1] whatever

And no heater, or radio - you'll work harder to stay warm, and get the
    job done more quickly..

Some times I find the radio a distraction.

Radio 4 - I want to ram this screwdriver into someone's head. Dimbleby
and his fuckwit question time phone panel audience. Just because it's
spoken word radio doesn't make it any less Trisha you mindless hand
wringing liberal proud to be British retards.

Radio 3 schools programming can be a bit disturbing sometimes, but on the
    whole safer.

    SZR you mean?

I've maybe spent 20 or so hours rebuilding the entire thing, but I've
spread the work over....hmm... a year... or two.

It runs fine, but I need to order a new float needle and valve.. and
forgot to do so *again* today.

    Steady on !
For Radio Fettling I go for Classic FM or R4. When R4 goes flat it
    gets powered off.

Actually garage is next to a a pub. The friendly (bike liking)
manager donates crates of beer that are a day or two out
    of commission. Which is nice.

I tend to celebrate a days fettling with a beer or two, not during
work: Too many power tools to play with.
Have you been outside in the UK in the last 36 hours ?
