Handling is a term used to describe the overall bike package. A bike
handles well when the power delivery, suspension, tyres etc work well as a
    whole.

Often used when comparing two bikes with a similar specification
e.g. one rider might say the ZX10R handles better than the Fireblade
or the Sprint ST handles better than the VFR800

Also used to describe the effect of changing one variable e.g. "increasing
the spring preload improves the handling when riding with a pillion"

To me, handling is the overall 'feel' of a bike, which includes how it
reacts to bumps and changes in surface, how it copes with acceleration
and braking; how much effort it takes to steer it. It's very
subjective. I suspect that even changing handlebars would make a bike
'handle' differently, even though the actual steering forces acting at
the steering head would be the same.

Personally I prefer a sports bike that *feels* small and that I could
dominate easily. I'll happily put up with slight handlebar flutter, in
fact it adds to the fun, provided I know that it will always settle
down and won't build up into a full-blown tankslapper. If I were
riding a tourer then I'd expect more stability.

    Others might have different ideas.
