Hasn't anyone on here heard of the Coriolis effect?

The forces involved are minute but measureable, and sufficient to skew
a sample population away from the median.

And DVD players are assigned to world regions. Does it mean that
according to the region the disc spins clockwise or anticlockwise?

So why didn't we have to change all crt's on the ship every time we
    crossed the equator?

Ships are different, they aren't plugged into the mains and use straight
cables so the electrickery doesn't change the direction of spiral up the
cable as you go over the equator.

    Northern hemisphere + clockwise spiral

Southern hemisphere = anti clockwise spiral

Ship = straight up the cable

    Simple innit.

What I don't get is that this theory has been disabused countless times
before the existence of internet let alone since and yet you have /one/
experience to "prove" it and that's it as far as you're concerned-
    proof positive.

    You're an i d i o t.

So have you ever been on the equator?

    No thought not.

You need to get out a bit more.

Is that why ships can't wheelie?

Do you know what a false negative is? Do you know what 50:50 ratio
means? Have you heard of tourism? Do you have proof that the equator
actually is thin enough to accurately divide a hotel room, even if it'
is really "**** off big"? Are you capable of discourse without
resorting to overused American expressions? Do you have a brain? Even a
    little one?

Er...you, isn' it? Since you believe the direction in which water
drains away is primarily the result of which hemisphere you're in.
Doesn't really give you a firm foundation for taking the piss out of
    anyone else, does it?

I dunno what the difference was, or why. But (IIRC I mainly noticed on
Compaq) boxes certainly used to say "Northern Hemisphere"...

  18. Already have an ex-UKRMer from Newcastle on Tyne lining up a pub crawl
for me. And when he came south, he brought a few nice ales with him
(OOh! Customs). He's also a CRA dude and my ex works for a company
here in Oz that was importing Scottish and Newcastle products a while
back. I also spent a very entertaining night here in Tasmania with
Edward Theakston, from Theakston's breweries, getting very drunk and
    discussing beer.

    Don't worry, I'm not your typical Oz lager dude . . .

    Cheers
