ER-5 Alternator....

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Dave Thompson, Oct 28, 2005.

  1. Hi all....
Need to up-rate my alternator as I'm running a pair of high voltage fog
lamps on my 97 ER-5, and the alternator can't keep up!
Any ideas on how to uprate the a;ternator, or would I have to buy a
    replacement from a different model?
    Any advice appreciated..
    Cheers, Dave

Why are you running two high voltage fog lamps?

99% of people who use fog lamps just seem to have them to look 'cool' and
    blind oncoming traffic.

Unless you live near the top of Snowdon/Ben Nevis the first thing to ask is
    do you *really* need them?

Buy a bike with bigger jets, it will almost certainly come with a free,
    larger, alternator.

  5. HV, eh? 144kV? I suggest you contact General Electric for a suitable
    alternator and transformer.

Here's a free hint - you don't look cool, you look like a berk that
doesn't know where the switch is, or that it's not foggy.
