My name is Big Gay Nick,
I am a six foot puff,
I cannot get my nuts undone,
It's put me in a huff.
Take deep breaths and remember the saying, "righty tighty, lefty
    loosey".)

    Failing that, angle grinder.

Hmm.. I can't understand why the chain is tighter when you've tried to
    slacken it off.

Because That Fucking Bar is stuck in place.

I can undo the bar at the topand move the wheel foreward and back
perfectly, but as the nut at the bottom of That Fucking Bar is on so
tight I can't adjust the angle that it's at which means the hole at
the top of The Bar stays in the same place. If the nut at the bottom
would loosen then I would have some leverage.

    Does that make sense?

Never again will I get a bike with a drum rear.

Will the heat from a lighter do it?

  9. In uk.rec.motorcycles, BGN amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
    Blowtorch.

As others have suggested - much heat is first option (blow torch). If that
    fails then.....

If you have a spare nut or can get a replacement then you might consider
chiseling it free. However, this is not completely risk-free because the
inner drum is alloy and migh fracture if too much force is applied.
Basically you need a small sharp chisel and a hammer. Start by making an
indentation in the middle of one of the flat faces of the nut. Then work it
so that the chisel is eventually being applied at approx 45 degrees to the
face and you are hammering the nut in the direction that will unscrew it.
Plenty of firm smacks with the hammer are then applied to the chisel (NB as
the drum is alloy do not use full swings with a lump hammer - just good
thumps with an ordinary hammer). The combination of impact and rotational
force will usually free off any nut that is stuck. I have done this many
times and have hardly ever failed to move the nut eventually. For a
(slightly) more sophisticated approach a "nut splitter" can be used (about
£5 to buy) - this will actually cut through the nut, releasing its grip on
the thread. If using a nut splitter you would need to support it below so
that the impact is entirely on the captive chisel and you dont knock the
torque bolt mounting off the drum.

Yet another approach, if there is room to get at it, is to use a stillson
wrench with an extender if necessary (I keep an old fork stanchion for just
this kind of thing - slips over the end of a spanner or socket handle and
allows greatly increased torque to be applied). The stillson gets tighter
the more you turn so it won't slip off if it has a good grip to start with.
However, it will mess up the nut so a replacement will be required. The
danger with this one is that you might shear the whole thing off so proceed
    with caution.

If none of the above work you WILL have to use an angle grinder to grind the
nut off (the nut will be totally knackered by this time anyway) then replace
    both nut and bolt.

    Good luck
    Tony

14mm headed steel bolt that pushes through from the wheel side of the
aluminium plate and sits in a hexagonal hole in the plate. Then the steel
torque arm and a washer and 14mm steel nut. (They could be 13mm - anyway an
    8mm thread).

Warm it up a bit - not too hot or you may soften the aluminium of the plate.
Play a blowtorch over it for a minute or so.
